August 19, 201015 yr Member I don't watch GH, but I'm curious to see what kind of ratings Vanessa M. brought in. Edited August 19, 201015 yr by MontyB
August 19, 201015 yr Member Well all eyes on GH this week. Should be very interesting. Predictions: Y&R- 3.5 (same) B&B- 2.3 (+.1) GH- 2.1 (+.2) AMC- 1.9 (+.1) DAYS- 1.8 (same) OLTL- 1.8 (+.1) ATWT- 1.6 (same) Ok so I think it should be a decent week for soaps.
August 19, 201015 yr Member Since the golden boy JJ got +.1, I can see Vanessa getting +.2, if the weak, unflattering ads and the boring episodes didn't drive people away. Edited August 19, 201015 yr by CarlD2
August 19, 201015 yr Member I'll probably eat my words, but I don't see Marcil doing anything for the show's ratings. Maybe a .1 bump. As much as ABC has hyped her return, I really don't think anyone cares anymore.
August 19, 201015 yr Member I think GH will get a slight bump this week but it will drop off next week. The younger audience may not care about the great Brend-uh returning since they might not even know who she is. All the flashbacks did for me was emphasize how the show has diminished in quality over the years and actually showed me how toxic the Brend-uh & Sonny relationship was back then (I was a huge fan). I'm not sure Brenda's Hospital or General Brenda will have the desired effect on the ratings.

I'm not sure Brenda's Hospital or General Brenda will have the desired effect on the ratings. I've just never understood the appeal of Sonny. The episode where he thought the prosecutor was Brenda and then asked her back to his place were just creepy. He's like a dirty old man. Ugh! I think GH will see a rise but then a very quick fall. And I agree about the older episodes - they are simply a reminder of how great our soaps were.
August 19, 201015 yr Author Administrator Remember, whether good or bad, one week doesn't mean much. It's what happens months from now, when Brenda's story is in high gear....then we can get a better perspective of her impact on the ratings.

It's what happens months from now, when Brenda's story is in high gear....then we can get a better perspective of her impact on the ratings. With this crazy promotion and Brenda marathons, ABC is clearly expecting an initial bump in the demos as well as a sustained increase like her last return. Last week's demos, Brenda's return, is an indication of the audience's interest and how high the demos months from now are likely to be. Edited August 19, 201015 yr by Ann_SS

Oh, I definitely think ABC expects an initial bump too, especially after all that promotion.
August 19, 201015 yr Member I think they are almost going to have to go on the initial increase because nothing in this story so far has done a lot to want to keep people watching.
August 19, 201015 yr Member LOL at the high expectations of some. I'd be shocked if she can manage to raise it 2 points. I think the ads and the shoving down people's throats turned alot of people off
August 19, 201015 yr Member Honestly, the show is so dark and unrecognizable. This is not the same show she returned to last time, and I really don't think there's much in the way of audience interest this time around. I could be wrong, and I kind of hope that for the sake of daytime in general that I am wrong, but I predict only a slight bump the first week, if that, and then back to business as usual with ratings and demos remaining flat.
