I think GH will get a slight bump this week but it will drop off next week. The younger audience may not care about the great Brend-uh returning since they might not even know who she is. All the flashbacks did for me was emphasize how the show has diminished in quality over the years and actually showed me how toxic the Brend-uh & Sonny relationship was back then (I was a huge fan). I'm not sure Brenda's Hospital or General Brenda will have the desired effect on the ratings.

I've just never understood the appeal of Sonny. The episode where he thought the prosecutor was Brenda and then asked her back to his place were just creepy. He's like a dirty old man. Ugh! I think GH will see a rise but then a very quick fall. And I agree about the older episodes - they are simply a reminder of how great our soaps were.

Remember, whether good or bad, one week doesn't mean much. It's what happens months from now, when Brenda's story is in high gear....then we can get a better perspective of her impact on the ratings.

With this crazy promotion and Brenda marathons, ABC is clearly expecting an initial bump in the demos as well as a sustained increase like her last return. Last week's demos, Brenda's return, is an indication of the audience's interest and how high the demos months from now are likely to be.

Honestly, the show is so dark and unrecognizable. This is not the same show she returned to last time, and I really don't think there's much in the way of audience interest this time around. I could be wrong, and I kind of hope that for the sake of daytime in general that I am wrong, but I predict only a slight bump the first week, if that, and then back to business as usual with ratings and demos remaining flat.

    • Shut up, Dante and Lois.  I actually don't mind this particular soap trope, but in the context of this storyline, it just feels forced and unnecessary. If anything, this Dante/Gio tension needed to begin months ago. Plus, this storyline, in general, isn't doing Lois any favors either.  Emma comforting Gio was really sweet though. It's definitely time for the two of them to have their first kiss. And, Joss playing Secret Agent Barbie will just never work.
    • Note to makeup - Smitty’s eyebrows, bad clamshell look.

    • Okay I can buy that when Brook Lynn was a teen.  Now she knows the child is a boy one would think she'd be slightly suspicious.  Then again, Gio looks nothing like either of them so maybe not lol.
    • I've been behind & just got caught up & the last 3 days were amazing!
    • Yeah.  The hot, poor bad boy with a chip on his shoulder but with a heart of gold was a common soap trope in the 80s

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
    • It was overkill and the whole narrative Lois was too nice to the orphan kid when he was little, WHAT? Like Emma said no one thinks Gio is a troublemaker that gets 14-year-old kids drunk for fun. That being said, Lulu figured this Gio thing out in episode, but Brook Lynn never once questioned Lois and Gloria's attachment to a child that was the same age as the baby she gave up?  Ever?
