soapcentral.com JUST IN: Michael Sutton (Stone) returning to General Hospital. Details to follow.

From TV Guide Online

Here's an unexpected blast from the past! Michael Sutton, whose General Hospital character, Stone Cates, died of AIDS in a landmark 1995 storyline, will return to the ABC soap on September 28 for a two-episode appearance. Stone won't be coming back as a ghost or spirit. Rather, he'll appear to his one-time girlfriend Robin (Kimberly McCullough) when she finds herself in a physically perilous situation and becomes delirious. (ABC has asked us not to reveal the exact circumstances).

The visitation occurs at an emotionally vulnerable time for Robin — she and hubby Patrick (Jason Thompson) have split up due to his liaison with Lisa (Brianna Brown). A GH rep tells TV Guide Magazine that "Stone will give Robin the will to live, not only for herself but, more importantly, her daughter Emma." The rep adds that the duo will also talk about their past together, and bring closure to what happened to them years ago. (As a result of her sexual relationship with Stone, Robin is HIV-positive). Sutton, who was Emmy-nominated for his final year on GH, hasn't done much acting since his exit from the soap. These days, he's a highly successful L.A. nightclub promoter and restaurateur.

A fantasy scene, a la Vicky and Ryan on AW? Or perhaps Stone will haunt Patrick...

Either that or he has an evil doppleganger who will rape Robin for sweeps, or Lisa will hire a man who looks like Stone to gaslight Robin. GH hasn't pissed on Stone's memory yet, they need the chance.

Was going to say bet its Brenda, but that's just force of habit. Will take awhile for us to all stop assuming it's Vanessa Marcil Giowhateverthefuckhernameis because we're used to the Brenda's return is imminent BS for so many years

Sorry. If it makes you feel better, I was hearing Stone's scratchy, weakened voice when he said those words and tearing up, too. Such a beautiful, heart-breaking moment. MS was not the best actor but it is a testament to the friendship MS and KMcC shared IRL (and the writing) that they made this love story seem so tender and real. And how they never negated what Stone meant to Robin all these years.

Also Stone made Sonny human. People forget that.

Even now when I occasionally watch Stone's death, that moment makes me start to sob like a baby.

I also can never forget the moment that Sonny realized that Stone was close to the end and walked out of this hospital room and collapsed against the wall, then Robin came out to comfort and keep him from falling apart. Beautiful.

So true. Sonny loving and caring for Stone and Stone loving him in returned redeemed Sonny who had been damaged by that horrible Karen stripper drug story.

lmao yes, I just mean that for years there was a Brenda return scoop every other second, so I was jokingly saying at first I thought it was Vanessa until I remembered that she was back... Force of habit.

Got another sad news from the Bahamian community (not a celebrity)  https://www.instagram.com/p/DJMSrYCgyes/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== Former Bahamian Senate President J Henry Bostwick, Husband of former 1st Bahamian Female Cabinet Minister Dame Janet Bostwick is dead yesterday on his 86th birthday.    Thanks and for those who've aren't familiar with the talk shows in The Bahamas on this thread here, his talk show named The Freedom March with Dr Rodney Moncur that airs on ILTV and The Beat 103.5 FM Nassau every weekday afternoons. IIRC, he suffered a illness before he died.  Here's the link for his final taping of the show before his death: https://ewnews.com/this-is-powerful-rodney-moncurs-final-sign-off/

    • One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
    • You're welcome. Fall 1982-Spring 1985 was the peak of primetime soaps. What a time to have been alive.
    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing. I was also wondering what preempted Dallas and Falcon Crest.
    • Interesting take on Dallas. Frankly I think the plot of JR Returns should have been the way Dallas ended but for whatever reason they thought they had the chance to get renewed for another season lol. A week later Knots’ 2 hour season finale ranked at #10 against Cheers #3 and LA Law at #5. There’s only a handful of other shows running that long and still doing well enough the ratings/rankings i.e. Gunsmoke, Law & Order, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and more recently Blue Bloods.    Another point of interest is the unraveling of the 80’s sitcoms had already begun in the spring of ‘91. The first part of a Who’s The Boss? two part season finale we see here ranked at  #40 and second part ranked at #43 the following week. Growing Pains finale the previous week barely made it into the Top 30. The Wonder Years fared no better. Cosby losing ground, Night Court and Dear John just being there etc.
