I don't know if NBC will be willing to pay a licensing fee for DAYS come September 2011...

Even though they went up in the demos this week, it's still far from where they were just earlier in this year. The show has collapsed both creatively and ratings-wise.

It's time to admit that baby switch story was just a fluke and they had nothing else to go with after it fizzled.

Shouldnt NBC be worried about their failing primetime lineup than cancelling a long running soap opera?

Agreed on these statements.

They thought Chappell coming back would do wonders, but it has flopped horribly. Higley needs to go, I would say Tomlin too but I am scared no one else will be able to keep the budget in check the way he has. Whoever is writing and okaying this crap clearly has no vision. There is just no structure, it's all about who is fuckin who with some weak story behind it. It is boring as hell, and fans aren't interested. I expect to see a bloodbath if numbers don't go up this fall.

A John and Marlena return? Don't want it to happen but..

Good week for ABC. Still good to see AMC putting up pluses from last year.

Also a BIG OUCH to DAYS. Last place in TV. Who would have thought?

Good for AMC. Sometimes I forget just how much OLTL and GH have lost over the last year. Even with a relatively big week, they are still well behind where they were last year. I guess when the numbers go down again the gap will increase.

Y&R seems to be coasting on their own fumes, tying all time low ratings, and demos barely up on last year, which was one of the most repulsive and offensive periods ever on a soap.

AMC is still doing awful in demos and thats all ABC cares about. They havent been able to get out of that 0.9 demo for weeks now.

There's been so much back and forth because last year Daytime Confidential and perhaps others were saying that AMC had more of an advantage because of "name value."

I guess as long as they are not expensive ABC might keep all the soaps on, if they can't find anything to replace them.

Name value my asss. Its all about the money.

And this is what I think has saved Days more than anything else in recent years. As long as NBC has issues elsewhere, Days will likely be ok. I also think Alison Sweeney helps. For some reason, NBC adores her.

I agree with Eric. I think Days has one more renewal left in them. However, at this point, I'm thinking that this next renewal will come with a writing change. I think that is how he will sell NBC on keeping them. Much like he did in 2003 and 2006 when renewal came with a HW change.

Prior to Friday, the last episode of GH to get 3 million viewers was April 6, the day Keifer died. On Friday his Father Warren died. I think it was Bradley Cole rather than James Franco that got the show's ratiings to go up.

Wow DAYS in last place? Geez that sucks. I don't know why Corday is so into Higley. Homegirl couldn't write in 2003, and she can't write now. Her writing style is perhaps akin to some light-hearted romance novel with an excessively long exposition, but little action or suspense.

Honestly, I don't think name value means that much when it comes to money and advertisers.

Also, people my know AMC or Erica Kane, but if they're not watching, what difference does it make?
