In part four of We Love Soaps' interview with Ron Hale (Mike, GH), the actor reveals to Damon L. Jacobs that he will be exiting GH.

We Love Soaps: What's interesting to me is that characters on soaps do terrible things and are quickly forgiven all the time. Mike is still on the hook for abandoning Sonny as a child all these years later. Why is that?

Ron Hale: I can be honest about that. They haven't touched on this for a long time. Mike has really been put in the background which I do understand to a certain extent.

We Love Soaps: How do you understand it?

Ron Hale: I can't totally go into it. But it's the way the show is going, and that's fine. It's fine because I'm getting to the end of my long run in my own mind. Jill [Farren Phelps] knows this. I'm going to be moving on. Not tomorrow or anything. But I've had a great run there, and I'm ready to leave Southern California. I've gotta go find me a farm somewhere.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Not Mike! :(

I've loved him(and Ron Hale) since he was running the Recovery Room on Port Charles. I'm gonna miss him.

I take this quote to mean he is thinking of retirement, doesn't have a date, doesn't care he has no story because he is doing it, but doesn't care if he does it, doesn't know how long he wants to do it, but doesn't mind popping in...it could be a year or more before he motivates himself to buy his farm or do whatever it is he plans on doing. But for now it sounds like GH is welcome to call, and if they don't that is ok too.

That's sad...I always liked Mike a lot, and I thought if they ever used him in a storyline of his own, he would be a great character. The man hasn't had a storyline since Courtney died five years ago.

I always wanted to see a Mike/Lesley romance. Maybe Monica falls for him too, he develops feelings for both women, and you have a great triangle with Monica/Mike/Lesley, and it pays homage to the days they were fighting over Rick.

Wow big loss. We were lucky to see him like 5 times this whole year. GH is getting overcrowded and needs to get rid of unnecessary people. I can name 10 they could get rid of.

cough Sam cough!

In the wildest of dreams I was hoping JFP would bring on Justin Deas just to have these two share scenes together (perhaps a nod to Ryan's Hope).

Doesn't sound like he's leaving now though, just that he knows he doesn't have a future there since he's never used.

Exactly what I thought, SID clears it up.

GH’s Ron Hale Mike) sets the record straight on his status with the show.

Hale is sitting tight.

GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Ron Hale (Mike) wants to clarify a recent report which implied that he was leaving the show, like, now. A source in his close circle says that Hale does plan on retiring to a ranch some day sooner rather than later, but there are no immediate plans to put his life in Port Charles to rest just yet. Whew!

Thanks for the clarification.

Now, GH, write for the man. Seriously.
