Members AmandainNC28655
I think it was one day Tracy's Lauren giving birth and the next day it was Caryn. I think, it's been so long ago and I'm exhausted today that my mind is not working 100%. Darn cold!!!
Members Gray Bunny
Agreed. It fell very flat, and it was too bad all that emotional fallout happened while a temp was subbing for Lang.

Members AmandainNC28655
So was their a question as to whether or not KKL was going to return to the role of Brooke?? Is that why they gave SR a long term deal???
Members DRW50
In fall 1996 there were rumors in the soap press that KKL wanted out. This faded away but I guess backstage it was still going on.
Members John
Yes KKL took a break and was on the fence so B&B gave her a date to report back Or SDR woulda been Permanet Brooke
Members AmandainNC28655
Oh Wow I didnt realize this...thanks for the info John. Now that you told me that it got me thinking how long the character of Brooke would've remained around had SDR permanently taken over the role??
Members John
i Think SDR woulda played brooke a few years & Then KKL woulda returned
Members JellicleCat
At the very least I don't think Brooke would have dominated the show the way she has. A major part of her appeal is down to KKL. She somehow manages to make Brooke sympathetic despite the often horrendous writing for her.
Members Gray Bunny
Indeed. How sad that she's never received an Emmy nomination, especially 10 years ago when a nomination still meant something. When I started watching B&B in 1996, it was reported that she had just had a small break. And when Brooke returned, she had temporarily lost her mind and was clutching on to some dolls in a hut in Barbados... Members DRW50
An Afternoon TV Yearbook covering 1973 mentions Stephen Bolster (Ted Clark, AW, up to February 1973) subbing on AMC. I wonder who he filled in for.
Members John
SB was 39/40 then what roles could he have fit? Would Phil been too young?. Maybe Chuck Tyler? Paul Martin?Nick Davis? Edited October 14, 2011 by John

Members juppiter
What did y'all think of James Kiberd and Randolph Mantooth as Hal Munson on ATWT? James Kiberd I didn't like, he was awkward in the role. Randolph Mantooth was pretty good but way too attractive for the role.
