She said she thought she was too glamorous to be Liz.

Around the time OLTL was trying to attract new viewers (hiring George Reinholt for instance) there were rumors that Alberta Grant (Liz Fields on Edge of Night) was going to be cast.

Carl Low tested to be Mary Stuart's new love interest on Search for Tomorrow. At the time, he was wearing a wig, to hide scars on his head from a car accident. They were interested in him. When he returned for another meeting, he was no longer wearing the wig. They felt he was too old to play her love interest, and cast Robert Mandan in the role. Carl was cast as Dr. Bob Low.

A TV Radio Mirror from around the time of George Reinholt's initial exit from AW said that they'd asked Robert Gentry (Ed, GL, Ross, AMC, among many other roles) to replace him as Steve. That didn't happen, but a few years later he did play AW's Phillip Lyons.

Before being cast as Alicia Grande on OLTL in late 1988/early 1989, Marcia McCabe said she'd auditioned for several other soap roles post-Search. I think they were GL, AW, ATWT. SOD said there were rumors AW didn't cast her because they didn't want viewers to be reminded of her relationship with Hogan (David Forsyth, John on AW).
