Donnie Melvin also played an orphan boy named Danny on The Doctors from 1967-68. Danny was eventually adopted by psychiatrist Dr. Bill Winters (James Noble, later of Benson fame) and his wife, Ruth (Ann Whiteside). Speaking of TD, Michael Kearney (who had also played Petey Dunbar on TSS) is the older brother of Eileen Kearney (the first regular actress to play Greta Powers) and Mark Kearney (who originated the role of Billy Allison Aldrich). Michael also played a couple of minor roles on TD himself.

It was before he was on either The Doctors or had appeared in Capote's A Christmas Memory.   After all of that, he joined the cast of The Secret Storm.   He was nice in appearance, but his acting was not all that great to me.  After leaving The Secret Storm, I never saw him or heard of him again.

The story of Ms. Crawford's appearance is that her daughter (who played the contract role of Joan Boreman Kane) was unable to play the role due to unplanned surgery.   The show hired Joan Crawford to play the role for two episodes.   This casting was front-page news (at least in my town), and the show was probably happy with the amount of publicity that the show received.

There was a character called Wendy Porter on TSS sometime in the 1960s who was played first by a pre-ATWT Rita McLaughlin, and she was replaced by Julie Mannix because the show wanted the character to be racier. Julie Mannix not only starred on a soap, but had a daughter who would one day star in a soap - Danielle von Zerneck (GH; also well known as Donna Ludwig in La Bamba).

Julie Mannix von Zerneck co-wrote a book called Secret Storms with the daughter she and her husband Frank had been forced to give up for adoption prior to their marriage. Here's info on the book and a couple of book trailers:

    • '92. I was looking for when Vanessa called Billy a sonofabitch. Then I got sucked into '92 and got rewarded by finding Vanessa and Mo getting sloshed. (3/6/92, I believe). Then the Blackout...lol, and just kept falling down the rabbit hole. This is lateOct/earlyNov. I couldn't believe my ears!  Reva's marriage to Billy was before they came to town. But yeah...
    • I just have this feeling Bill and Leslie about to be the next big thing. Not sure what that means for Hayley but if they want to be messy they could put her in Jacob's orbit. They had a bit of chemistry during their scene at Orphey Gene's a few months back.
    • You give her alot of credit. I really think she is in her feelings about what she feels Eva did to her. If this was just an act, there really wouldnt be a need to throw away her picture when she was alone. She's not feeling Eva right now and isnt thinking logically, which has been the case for her for much of this plan. I think she'll go back to Eva once she's calmed down but i dont think she's faking She's mad and in her feelings
    • Did anyone like Greg/Paige as a couple? There was an age gap (in 1988 William Devane was 49 and Nicollette Sheridan was 25) but the ick factor to me was Paige being the daughter of Greg's frenemy Mack and at one point it was thought Greg was Paige's father. Also I didn't feel that Greg/Paige were a genuine love, it seemed more like mid-life crisis/rebound. Of all of Greg's main pairings (Abby, Laura, Paige), to me the only genuine love was Laura.
    • I think it’s all an act. I think she’s cutting off Eva because she knows her daughter will run to Ted and counting on him on being a decent human being, he obviously will take in Eva. Once Eva and Ted have formed a bond Leslie will either use this to try and worm her way into Ted’s good graces and/or use Eva to destroy the Dupree/Richardson family form within. I don’t think Leslie is quite done with Eva just yet, she knows after all of this she still has a pull over that girl.
    • I like Haley, but she was being irritating today as Peg Bundy.

    •  Now she won’t get to experience Nicole’s kindness or the fresh scent of Fabreeze
    • I really don't understand Leslie.  Cutting off her daughter now leaves her with absolutely nothing and no bargaining chip...
    • And for all we know, there might be other siblings that Jacob has that haven't been mentioned yet.  It wouldn't be the first time a prodigal son and/or daughter is not mentioned by the family. A middle class family that's involved with the police force and police force adjacent would be a nice contrast with the more wealthy Duprees.  There is a lot of story material to mine from that dynamic.
    • Yep. those families would be correct.   Looking forward to the rest of Jacob's family showing up.
