Yeah, E.J.'s SORASing was pretty heinous. To me, James Scott looks older than Ali Sweeney; yet, he's playing a character who was born at least 15 years after hers'.

Don't forget he was born after his ex-stepson.

Scotty Banning was bad, I'd forgotten all about that! Poor Julie being like 50 with a grown grandson.

Days is always the worst.

Esp with that 2000 teen set. Belle, Shawn, Philip all the same ages, brady only slightly older and Abby still a kid when Abby & Brady were born around the same time, after shawn and belle wasnt born til years later then philip/will/ej were born around the same time (give or take). What a disaster.

EJ's is just... ridiculous.

SORASing is ridiculous and unnecessary. If you're to frown upon every Leah Bauer or EJ DiMera case because they make absolutely no sense, then what makes a Katie Peretti or a Nick Newman any better? It all adds up to screwed up time frames, characters having more kids than they should (you're 10 year old daughter is old enough to have a family and home of her own, but you're only 45, and your reproductive juices are still flowing, so might as well...), characters being given the shaft and written as much older than they should be (Ellen Stewart, of course), and generally, a huge and unsightly blemish on the whole damn genre.

When a character reaches that prime SORAS age range (8-16), there is no need to age them so they can have stories. Write for characters who are already old enough to have interesting stories! Or better yet, come up with interesting stories to write for a small two or three person 8-16 set.

And IMO, the worst is definitely Leah Bauer. There are no fricken words. The soap with the most idiotic SORASing to its name is without a doubt DAYS.

I still laugh/can't get over the fact that on AMC when Jake Martin thought he was the father of infant Colby...Amanda was a child, about what...8? Now look at how Jake and Amanda are together with a son...Jake apparently doesnt age much!(since they dont play him to be wayyy older than Amanda)

Leah Bauer rapid aging was the worst. It was totally pointless and unnecessary to do that to the character.

One of the best things about British soaps, is that they almost never use SORAS and when they do, it's limited to like 1-2 years.

That, too. I call that Age Suspension Disorder, or ASD. I always feel like I'm watching some jacked-up version of "The Picture of Dorian Gray" whenever that happens.

Kendall's aged like 5-10 over the last 15-20, so that stunts Erica's aging process because, no matter what, the show still loves to drive home the fact that ERICA WAS RAPED AT AGE FOURTEEN AGE FOURTEEN AGE FOURTEEN ELLA TENIA CATORCE ANOS! It bites because now I'm supposed to believe Erica Kane is in her 40s, which -- I love ya, Looch -- is just phony.

I'm curious, though, Khan. Why do you think SORAS is a necessary evil? I'm not trying to start any sh!t, just wondering

Heather remained the correct age, but three of the Newmans are older than her. Nick was born nearly a year after Chance but Chance remained relatively SORAS-free while Nick was one of the more extreme SORAS. Adam also got extreme SORAS to be closer in age to Victoria/Nick. Billy was SORASed older than Chance, who was born 5 years earlier.

It's kind of funny though when you remember things like toddler Nicholas Newman choking in his crib and Victor thumping his back and now Nick is older than me with kids of his own.
