New Daytime Talk Show to replace ATWT

Martha earned her right to be rude :lol: Talk show hosts are usually rude anyway, some just do it with a fake grin. She doesn't bother.

Martha's convictions probably had as much to do with her giving money to Democrats as they did with anything else...

Unlike Ellen whose a closet bitch, Martha just owns it.

Yep, it was a witch hunt 'we'll make an example out of them' thought Bush. Martha, Conrad Black and Oscar Wyatt. All enemies of Bush, all thrown under the bus while Enron, Halliburton and Bernie Madoff rolled over everyone.

Still, Carl, it was illegal what she did. She was also convicted of obstruction of justice.

Interestingly, she was only convicted of conspiracy, obstruction of an agency proceeding, and making false statements to federal investigators. She was never convicted of the insider trading charges.

If she had knifed people, sure. With the charges she faced, it's hard to care as much, especially when the Enron names got a slap on the wrist.

Yep, you compare Martha to Enron and it's really disgusting.

Fine. Your choice. Relativistic justice. :)

It's all relative. The criminal justice system is a strange place.

Speaking of scandals and such, how about all of those tabloid "news" shows. Really, I'm just talking about Hard Copy, which was all the rage for a while.
Someone at CBS/Paramount needs to ditch The Insider and take TMZ head on with Hard Copy 2.0.

Barry Nolan/Terry Murphy were such nasty, sarcastic bitches. I saw a clip on YouTube where Terry Murphy disses Tula(some transgender female that was in a Bond movie) by saying she needs "to raise her voice a bit." :lol: Didn't Hard Copy set up Frank Gifford and show the video of him hooking up with the escort on their show?

I loved that typewriter and that theme song.

Some of the Hard Copy/A Current Affair stuff, the combo of the seaminess of the format as well as what they covered, it seems much starker than a lot of what you get on news magazine shows today. Like some of their interviews with people who were tied to the Manson family, or their report on Jessica Savitch.

Didn't they try to bring back one of those a few years ago on Fox and there was a controversy because the people who produced it insisted Murdoch's son got them canceled?

It was A Current Affair. I always assumed they canceled the show due to low-ratings and News Corp wanting to launch Geraldo At Large into syndication, which occupied that spot for a year until FOX pulled the plug.

For all my fellow Ricki Laker-ers out there, Ricki told CNN a few months ago that was she in talks to do another talk show! :)

JUMPS. FOR. JOY!

After she hosted Charm School, I was hoping she was ready to get back in the ring.

Was her show canceled or did she end it?

Ricki ended it, though it was renewed for the 2004-2005 season. She wanted to move to LA to pursue other creative options.

I hope the show talk show pans out!

Maybe we will get shows like this

I can be Ricki Lake's first guest on the last clip show....hahaha

I don't think a new Ricki show would be like the old Ricki show, unfortunately. She's deeply involved in motherhood/pregnancy type stuff and even did this great docu on home birthing, so I'm positive that she'd do something medical-based or parenting-based.

Who knows, she told Ellen last year that she misses her "hoochie mommas."

I think she also said if she did another talk show, it would be in the style of her first one, with a more "mature" twist.

Well... this is before many of yours' times... (But i'm sure sylph can appreciate this) but over the years there have been a few unique syndie programs... and this is one that I thought was REALLY fascianting:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIvFI82uac0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIvFI82uac0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIvFI82uac0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

This is another unique "Animal" in the world of syndie programs:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="

name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

While we're on the subject of syndicated programming, does anyone remember the news show "American Journal" with Nancy Glass? What was the name of the music(it was a late 1800's early 1900's piece) that they remixed for the opening/closing credits?

I used to love the closing theme of that show.
