GH: April Discussion Thread

Well, it's never pretty when this show decides to trash someone. Look what they did to Sam when they thought KM was leaving. Look what they've done to Laura. Now Luke talks about her like she was a ball and chain. If you live in Port Charles and you're name isn't Jason Morgan there is every chance your character is going to go down ugly and OOC at some point. Granted characters have to do bad things or there is no drama. I don't argue that, it's just that I've never seen the sort of hierarchy of pets the IIC at GH have. I'm sure it happens on other shows too, but with GH you can set your watch by it.

As far as GH using Liz's rape, I've never had a problem with that. It's part of their history. Lucky has never said her rape was the good old days. He's said that he misses the girl she was when he helped her recover and they fell in love. I don't see anything wrong with that. The time between the rape and Lucky's "death" was really the only time these two were only about each other. He was what she needed at the time and then she grew up while he wasn't paying attention. It was past time that he took the blinders off and realize that Liz has changed and their love didn't survive that change.

I might remember it wrong, but I thought Lucky went on about how she was bleeding in the snow and to me it was almost glorifying what happened to her. They were together for over a year, as friends and then as soulmates, and yet, he only thought about her in the snow. Add in the tacky scenes where she had her breakdown at the same place where she was raped, and the incredibly weird scenes where she suddenly claimed she had not enjoyed sex thanks to her rape and only Nik had made her enjoy sex, and it seems like using her rape to bludgeon her with over and over and over, ensuring she is reduced to nothing more than that victim. And more focus went on how noble Lucky was for "saving" Liz, then and now, than on any pain Liz herself went through.

The problem with doing this to Liz at this particular time is that JJ's Lucky had almost nothing to come back to. His relationship with Luke was just about completely destroyed. He had few friendships with anyone left on the canvas. So bringing JJ back by focusing in a positive way on his relationship with Liz could have been a smart way to reintroduce him to viewers. Instead, it is immediately about Liz being a whore, and lying to poor noble Lucky, and Lucky in tears as he bonds with Jason. They brought JJ's Lucky back as some sort of emo deity, not as a viable character. He seems superfluous to me.

Hels isnt the only one that gets good dialogue. Tracy's was great today

Luke: "Helena is planning soem twisted thing."

Tracy: "Well it would be news if she wasnt. But you know what? Im over Helena Cassadine and I suggest you get over her too. In fact strict fidetlity is the order of the day and should you break it you will find your freeloading ass out on the street selling pencils. Turrah"

Luke: "Pencils?"

There was no way to do that though. I'm sure it would have been very different if JJ had decided to come back before Niz started. They were right in the middle of Niz when he came back, so there really wasn't any way to turn it around without making Lucky an even bigger loser than he's been in the past. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the plan is to build LL2 back up. They just aren't rushing it because Lucky would look pretty pathetic if he forgave Liz for sleeping with his brother in a matter of a month or two. My preference would be to move him on with someone else, but I feel the writing is on the wall.

Either way, I don't see Lucky as superfluous. He is the son of (arguably) the most famous soap couple ever. They are clearly reestablishing his relationship with Luke. He's the member of a core family with tons of family relationships. He's actually shown doing his job unlike nearly every other character and is the father of two. At the very least he has three potential love interests in Liz, Maxie and Maya. On the list of GH's extraneous characters, I think Lucky is pretty far down the line.

Also theres the fact that RH got pregnant shortly after he returned , which had them prolong this story and go in a different direction. Her airtime has decreased dramatically and as a result so has his as that was his main storyline. He's been used as the supporting cops in the other storylines to give him something to do

I do like Carly and Jax but tired of their endless fighting over Sonny. They constantly have the same arguments

Same here. I like them, but I would like them a lot more if Carly had remained more true to character during their marriage. It would have been a lot more fun to see Jax married to the scheming Carly who always had a plan. Jax and Carly have had plenty of scenes, but not much in the way of story that is truly about them, since their marriage.

Today's episode was good.

The Jax/Carly conflict tears me. I agree that Jax was totally totally wrong about how he threw Michael and Morgan under the bus becuase he thought his own child was more important. And he KNEW Michael actually killed Claudia, so the position he was putting Michael and even Carly in was horrendous, and it is the reason I really don't like the character anymore.

HOWEVER, Carly should be able to see everything Sonny has done to her children, and the risk he puts them in. No GOOD mother could possibly lose a WHOLE YEAR with their child, would EVER let the man who caused that be a part of their life. They make Carly out to be mother of the year, but she constantly puts her kids lives in danger, and for 14 years she has been a sonny-glorifying cloud! ahh!

Nik got kicked around? Hardly. Liz got the brunt of the "attacks" from ShrewLu and others, while ShrewLu brushed off Nik's part in the affair. Luke was like the ONLY person who called out Nik on his part in the whole mess.

I only wish Lucky got half of what Liz got when he cheated, even with GV as Lucky he didn't get nearly as much.

exactly. it makes no sense. lucky has done his share of sleezy [!@#$%^&*] but he didnt get one fourth of the attacking she got. Nik got NOTHING. it's so stupid.

Dear heavens, it must be some bizzaro universe! I'm thanking you in one thread... agreeing with you in this thread! :wacko:

But, yeah... Liz was beaten up when Lucky cheated on her with Maxie. She cheats, she's a bitch. She's cheated on, she's a bitch. What the hell is so special about Lucky? Do I agree with Liz and Nik? Hell no! But, at the same time, the compassion and understanding that went out to Lucky's continuous affair with Maxie -- in Liz's bed while Liz and Lucky were MARRIED -- has yet to go out to Liz in this situation. Was it a betrayal of trust, yes. Absolutely. But last time I checked, and please correct me if I'm wrong (I've lapsed on my GH viewing to a couple shows a month up until recently), Liz and Lucky weren't married.

Also, Nikolas is a HUGE factor in this. Whether Liz and Lucky are married or divorced, Lucky and Nik are forever brothers.

Elizabeth and Lucky were engaged. Though to be fair to her, Elizabeth never wanted to marry Lucky. He proposed after Jake almost died, and she accepted out of guilt. Does that excuse her actions? Nope. But I find it far better than what Lucky did...Guess no one in PC has any morals...Whoops, already knew that!

When your lead "streetfighter" of a female character has to be convinced that she's not only a good liar, but lying is the RIGHT thing to do...
