St. Patricks Day IS an excuse to drink. People do celebrate it to go out to bars

Exactly, you have but only to look at the real world to see how folks of all backgrounds see St. Patty's and Cinco de Mayo as holidays to get unapologetically schlammered.

Man OLTL cannot catch a break.

At least they are finally making some headlines. :P

It really don't need to be St. Patty's day for Roxy to be drunk. Seriously, the woman is always zonked *why I love her*

It was not offensive. The rest of the show was more offensive that day than this.

Heh just as an aside I found it highly amusing that most of Mexico does not celebrate Cinco de Mayo and that the reason the day its important is because it was the day Mexico kicked the French army's ass from invading in 1862.

I hate when groups try and make an issue out of nothing. I hope ABC doesnt back down and apologize. I hope that for the next month or so, whenever Roxy is getting drunk, she's wearing bright green from head to toe

What annoys me is that this will probably just be used as an excuse to dismiss the valid complaints about some of the show's recent decisions and the tone of some of their stories, because gee, everyone complains, who cares.

Mhm.

If these people can articulate a reason why OLTL's St. Pat's Day episodes offended them, then I'd be willing to give them credence. But just "That's offensive!!" doesn't cut it.

I posted a fairly mean (I admit) reply on their website, not sure it'll stay up. But calling an ABC boycott over the fact they simply don't know things about the show (like that Roxy is offensive towards every minorities in her way, and is ALWAYS drunk), is ridiculous. Did any other show even aknowledge the holiday? Wow.

I have celebrated the day in Montreal (which has a huge Irish population rivaling New York's), Vancouver (which doesn't), and, yes, Dublin. OLTL's depiction was tame (honestly the thing I remember most about Dublin's was the amount of vomit in the street the next morning--I am not kidding).

I think they lost me when they said they've never seen a worse case of bigotry. Please! What bigotry? Maybe they should have just pointed out that the way St.Patrick's Day is celebrated in the U.S. is not traditional and given us an overview of the traditional celebration and the reason for it.

The thing is they may wanna deny it, but this isn't very different than how most people in Dublin celebrate it either (and they don't make the beer green but they do dye the river...)

Y&R had St. Patrick's Day scenes in...January.

LOL what??

In January or early February, Billy and Victoria were in an airport lounge, I believe, and there were St. Patrick's Day displays and they drank green beer. Meanwhile, at Crimson Lights, Amber was wearing a green shirt and there were also some type of decorations.
