AMC: Popular Character Getting Recasted!

I think she's to young for the part.

She is younger than Riegel, but she looks the same age. I don't think that's nearly as big an issue to overcome as just winning over diehard Riegel fans who would resist any recast at all. Putting that aside, I think Leon would be a top choice.

Does anyone else wonder if they might have Bianca suddenly discover she's bisexual? Over the past few years I've felt like someone at ABC may have been tempted to do this, and Eden probably and understandably would not have wanted to go along.

I'm not sure if that was the case as much as TPTB wanting to present Reese as being bisexual (or "confused"). And as for the whole Zarf / Zoe thing, that was really born from another McTavish McGimmick. (I know the M-to-F Lesbian transgender circumstances absolutely DO happen, but from McT's typical perspective, the social relevance factor is a distant second to the "twist" factor - and I think it certainly came off that way, as much as the actors tried to bring dignity to it.) I don't believe there was any particular agenda to make Bianca seem attracted to men. But I do think it was against character for Bianca to have any solid attraction to Zoe; that it was another case of altering character to suit plot.

It woud be offensive to, after nearly a decade, present Bianca as potentially bisexual. The implication would be that gay people, in general, are confused or at least CAN become confused. The media & viewer backlash factor would be really high... Would they want to risk that? But that being said, Carl, stranger things have happened: If you asked me five years ago if I thought they would have suddenly revealed Erica's abortion as a living / talking being, I would have thought you were crazy!

I hope they've learned (at least something) from their mistakes.

I just think in their minds there may not have been a lot of story for a lesbian Bianca. There was Zarf, and baby stories. Her last story had her taking a backseat to "confused" lesbian/bisexual Reese. I think if they bring Bianca back again on any type of long term basis they may end up taking the cheap route and having her suddenly question her sexuality.

I really doubt they are, given this news came AFTER the news broke of Eden going to Y&R

Also DC said something about them not really recasting, it was just a way to stick it to ER

If they want to strengthen Erica's foundation on the show... I mean, to not leave her on an island... they may recast in the not-too-distant future. If that's not a priority, then they won't bother. But if Alicia Minshew is to exit for certain, I think that would up the chances of a Bianca recast.

I dunno, I read that Lucci will be on alot less cause of the commuting, so I don't see them recasting Bianca. I think if they did recast her, they'd probably make her bisexual, or straight

I think it really depends on how they're going to respond to Erica being on-screen a lot less. Do they just kind of accept it and let the "Kane" contingency sort of fade? Or do they try to tie Erica in by rebuilding her family so that her presence is "felt" even when she's not around? Seriously, it's just too hard to tell how they'll handle it. I would welcome a Bianca recast if they stayed true to her character; I think Eden Riegel defined the role as an adult, but I'm not sold on the idea that she's irreplaceable. Actually, for several reasons, I think Bianca has more recast potential than Kendall.

@AllMyDays - I think someone along the lines of Adrianne Leon would work, but I'm skeptical about Livingston. I don't know her work extremely well. I could be wrong, but I feel like she'd have this non-Bianca vibe - that maybe she'd have the "bisexual / straight" vibe ZF just mentioned!

Natalia Livingston would not work at all for me. I'm not a fan of her as an actress.

I think if they did recast her, they'd probably make her bisexual, or straight

Considering all the backlash over the Reese/Zach and Bianca/Zarf thing I don't think they will be doing that. But then again they've made the same mistakes over and over again since Frons has taken over AMC. But at this point they should know that wouldn't go over well.

They never should have killed off Erica's hunky son.

When did Erica have a son? ;-)
