McTavish patterned the Ryan character after "Tad the Cad." This is what she claimed. I never really saw any similarities even when she wrote him.

That's because character is paper-thin to her. She did say in that article that she likes to do staple stories - but put her own "special spin" on them (i.e. "Erica will have a long-lost son... but he'll be an abortion that didn't take!") ... So I guess Ryan is Tad, but what was the special twist?

Tad the Cad? I see... no similarities. I guess in the 80s Tad helped con people, but... :blink:
