ATWT: Famous Star might return

I want to see some people return for the finale (with Bryggman and Herrera topping the list, of course), but I think the show has to be very selective here, and not just bring back everyone. John, James, Andy, Frannie, Penny, Iva and Lyla? Definitely. Sabrina? Maybe. Anyone else? I don't think so.

There's a big difference between characters returning for storylines and characters returning for the end of the show. I don't see how Marcy could possibly fit into anything at all, but Betsy would most definitely have a place, IMO. A mini-reunion of the Stewarts during the last week or two would be a fantastic surprise.

I'm curious. How would you make that happen (if you could)? Because, just Betsy showing up on Susan's doorstep one afternoon, all "Hey! Remember me?!", would be awkward, IMO. Character returns must be organic to the storyline. Otherwise, it's a Gary Tomlin show where it's all like some colossal in-joke.

I don't really think a return has to be all about reminiscing and good times and flashbacks. After Emily and Alison's stories die down and they (hopefully) get closure, what could be more organic than their sister (or rather, Emily's sister and whatever the hell they have Alison refer to her as) showing up for a brief visit? I wouldn't see it as "OMG Betsy's back!" It should be more like "A woman is coming home to visit her family." She could even offer a little insight on whatever drama Em/Ali are dealing with at that particular time while also giving a brief account of what's been going on with her lately. At this stage in the game, trying to keep newer viewers awake is soooo much less important than providing closure and a happy ending for all of the characters currently on canvas. Bringing people back isn't necessary, but it's a nice touch.

I agree. Marland was good at those types of visits. Or like Penny's visits. She never has had a big story on her returns, she's just there to see her family. I think it would be nice if Betsy and Ellen could return for that reason.

If Marcy returned then I would have had her return for Lisa's exit.

Listen, I'll be grateful if ATWT doesn't end with Holden and Lily hightailing it out of Oakdale in a pickup truck! (Seventy-two years, and that's how GL goes out? In a pickup truck!?)

That's great news! I wasn't expecting a lot more than a walk-on, so I'm not really disappointed. I know that if Julianne wasn't a star they might not even be bringing Frannie back, and most of all I just want to see Frannie again. I hope we will also get to hear a brief line or two where Frannie (is it just Frannie or also Sabrina?) says what she's doing these days, but like I said, I will even take a small cameo, as I wasn't expecting to ever see Frannie again.

Great news!

It's a shame Frannie has been away this long, Sabrina too.

I don't even care if it's just a walk-on part, it's just nice to see her.

I think Betty Rea cast Meg Ryan (she cast ATWT from 79-83). I think Julianne was 84 or 85. She might have supervised though.

Do we know if it's going to be just Frannie or also Sabrina? If it's just a walk on I guess that might only mean Frannie.

Is she going to do like a video message (as in AMC's recent anniversary) or actually appear in a scene with the actors?

This is great news! I love J. Moore forever for this.

I'm thinking it'll be similar to what Jason Priestley did in the last episode of 90210. Brandon made a video and sent it to David and Donna to congratulate them on their wedding. And that's perfectly fine, IMO. She no doubt has a busy schedule of things, so the fact that she even made it a point to make time for ATWT shows how much she cares.

It would be nice if she actually interacted with Bob and Kim. Moore lives in the West Village so there's no reason why getting her on set should be a problem. Not to sound harsh, but if they go with video, to me that speaks more to ATWT's incompetence. They could really make a lovely little scene out of this opportunity.
