I don't believe Vanessa would ever wear a tie.

India throwing her hair back = soap heaven.

That Roxy/Mindy clip looks like they're about to get into some hot lesbian action.

Is OLTL's first opening theme available on Youtube? I have yet to find it.

I think the original Ryan's Hope opening really summed up the essence of that show.

1980 opening:

I hate dearly to admit this, but I hate them. I love the show, wanna see more. But the openings are so ham fisted--the baby in the air or kids jumping freeze frame :rolleyes: The Statue ofLiberty? We get that they're an imigrant family bla bla bla bla BLA.

I think the first one is here with this montage.

Thanks!

Ugh I hate OLTL's theme they used from 91-95.

When did the rising sun replace it?

Not exactly sure, but it had to have been in the mid-70's. Maybe 1974 or 75, it was replaced with the clouds opening in 1980 for sure.

Does anyone know if AMC and OLTL will also get new openings soon, or is it just GH getting a new one?

No mention of my favorite ATWT opening yet? I think it was always the music that got me.

I always found the music in the 93-99 ATWT opening depressing as hell. I thought it was more fitting for a funeral. LOL!

Blasphemy! Jelinda's Theme is Love! :P The closest there is to a full theme is the one from the David Foster CD "Love Lights the World."

So did I. I thought the whole thing was depressing. I don't think it helped that the show was slowly dying for most of those years.

Yes, I hate it too, sorry to the original poster. I do like the visual idea of the different seasons, etc, in the letters)

Okay, I just LOVE the French opening theme for Santa Barbara. If the melody sounds familiar, it's to the tune of Peabo Bryson's "If Ever You're In My Arms Again" which played during the first episode re: Kelly and Joe.

type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

ETA: I should have asked EricMontreal or FrenchFan, but me and my pathetic French skills did a little Googling and translating, and for those interested, the lyrics roughly translate to:

Santa Barbara,

Who will tell me

Why I have the pain of living?

Santa Barbara,

I do not know.

I am like a drunken boat

Carrying my memories.

Pretty much ;) The drunken boat isn't literal, it's an expression.

For now it is just GH. No word on AMC and OLTL getting new openings.

UGH Space Age OLTL--was that what Eterna was? Did they think it would be just too much to send them to space so they made an underground city? :P I know soap press at the time went on about the sets--they're certainly huge! And ugly and don't look remotely real (I despise the spaceship heaven designs for Vicki in Heaven as well--one soap article at the time said ti had sets liek a Steven Spielberg film. LOL!!!! Umm. No.)

Thanks!

Ugh I hate OLTL's theme they used from 91-95.

As I said on page two I love it. So there. -_-

Am I the only one who noticed the really shortened DAYs theme recently? If you look at them traditionally throughout the shows history, it almost seems like the one we see today is on fast forward....I like the longer one better.

Here are the German openings of Santa Barbara (called California Clan)and Days of Our Lives (Zeit der Sehnsucht):

That DAYS is from when famous pop producer (Donna Summer, Pet Shop Boys) and synth film scorer (Axel F, etc) Harold Faltermeyer rescored the full show for Germany. You can hear many of his cues online.

Funny that you mention that, considering Dixie Carter was once a temporary-replacement Dorian back in the day...

I don't know what makes something like this an urban theme. Don't get me wrong; it sounds pretty. But I think that day-after-day, these kind of ballad-like piano renditions end up being a big snore in no time at all. I remember when All My Children did that very thing at the behest of then-EP Francesca James. After a short while, fans online complained that it sounded depressing. The version remained until Jean Dadario Burke joined the show as "Producer" (not long before she ended up replacing James altogether), and an upbeat version of the theme was used, instead.

You see what I mean?

Yes, it works for special episodes--a funeral, maybe Christmas (not that they're the same :P ) but not everyday.
