Members Soapsuds
I mean the ratings were huge...big jumps...a .1 is not a big jump....but nowadays a good week is a .1 bounce.

Members ChiTownBoi03
Congrats to DAYS, for real. Have to admit I'm surprised by the slight boost, its about as entertaining as wet paint these days, but I have indeed been watching.
Members CSF
If AMC can continue to climb through the spring and gain in 18-49 and total viewers, it would benefit the show tremendously. I wish OLTL could sustain more of AMC's audience, however.
Members jams1234
I could not agree MORE!!! But to be fair it's more like one or two poster who are constantly beating the "AMC sucks and I hate it" horse. Week in and week out, same ole same ole. We get it, you wish terrible things for AMC, point taken. It seems to me that it's more of a jealousy thing...you know them not liking that AMC is doing better than their soap. I've never understood why ANY soap fan would wish for ANY soap to have bad ratings. Especially when you see the same posters talk about how soaps are a dying breed & how sad it is that thy are being canceled, but they have no problems wishing for cancellation for the soaps they do not care for???? A bit hypocritical, no? As for me I only watch OLTL and AMC...the latter is my soap. With that said I never wish for the other soaps to go down.....I wish for my favorites to rise. BTW Go AMC!!!!!!!!!!!! WELL deserved!!

Members EricMontreal22
Why do I get the feeling that makes you happy? lol AMC has traditionally done better than ATWT if you consider annual ratings going back to 1970. I think that was the point (significantly better actually--though certainly not so much in the past decade)
Members EricMontreal22
Well said. I would never wish another saop to be canceled (well ok i wasn't too sad when Passions left) and it seems like sad jealousy to me AMC has definitely been, while not a huge improvement, a lot more fun to watch the past two or three weeks and I'm glad the ratings are reflecting that. It's silly to champion a tiny rise in demos for ATWT and then act like it doesn't matter that AMC is doing better and better week after week lol
Members Angela
The 18-49 demo is very relevant. AMC is the #1 ABC soap in HH and Total Viewers - it's been 8 weeks (give or take a week) with the highest HH/Total Viewers on the ABCD soap lineup - but GH is the #1 ABCD soap in 18-49 viewers/rating consistently. Despite the nice off-demo ratings for AMC, an executive would look at GH numbers as healthier because advertisers will give them more money for GH because of the 18-49 demo. OLTL is the truly suffering ABC soap here, their 18-49 demo is on par with AMC and nothing positive is happening in HH and Total viewers. That aside I concur with your opinion. I'm not exactly getting the AMC-target practice thing here for some ATWT fans. AMC, OLTL and ATWT all complete the back of the pack in 18-49. ATWT is not trouncing AMC (or even OLTL) in 18-49 by any means. Ties and 1-2 times in the past two months where ATWT has had a higher 18-49 is not going to somehow cause AMC to be canceled and not ATWT. It's not going to save ATWT. Members EricMontreal22
Right, I know that that demo has been very important since the mid 70s actually when they started paying attention to demos and it is completely relevent. You said, what I intended to say, much better in your second paragraph. It just seems silly to talk about DirecTV picking up the show (I thought a bit part of the reason they picked up Passions was that DirecTV is partly owned by NBC, isn't it?) because of tiny gains, etc, and then say in the same sentence "but poor AMC, it's gonna be dead in a year anyway no matter what gains it might make", etc etc. Maybe DirectTV should just hold out and wait till AMC is dead to pick up that, then
Members Angela
I don't think it's silly, in that it's never silly to dream. If it was my soap, despite horrible demographics, I'd want to hope somebody picks it up. I just don't get the necessity to slam AMC (like it's totally in the mud) from some of the ATWT contingent. You may be right about NBC owning some of DirecTV, I'm not sure. I know Passions had a fantastic 12-17 demographic (usually top 3, correct me if I'm wrong?) despite being last place in HH, that probably played into it as well. Members EricMontreal22
You're spot on about the demos of Passions--that played a big part I'm sure. Sorry I didn't quite mean silly. OLTL and AMC have always been *my* shows, but ATWT basicallyc oes next and I do have a lot of affection for the show and if I was being honest, would rather see it stick around than sme shows that are. And I agree, I think it's admirable to fight to the end for your show (and I consider Ruxton and SaveATWT friends on here, so it's nothign personal against them)--it's just, as you say, it does neither them nor their cause any favours to follow each ATWT saving post with a comment about how awful AMC is an how it will inevitably die anyway--like that somehow makes ATWT's death more palatable? I just don't get it--and from a strictly logical point of view it comes off as silliness--there are no real facts to point out that AMC is going anywhere anytime very soon at all. *gets off high horse*
Members DRW50
Should ABC be pleased with those GH 18-49? They've lost over 150,000 in the past year and in spite of weeks that should have been a big buildup for those numbers (Franco, who was supposedly popular among people in that age range; JJ's return, who was a big name for a lot of younger GH viewers who may have lapsed since his exit; the buildup of the reveal of Dante being Sonny's son), their numbers are still decreasing.
