I wonder if bringing Colenback back was a mistake. I haven't seen any of his work so I can't say but he looked a bit old and it seemed like John Reilly had been a big hit with viewers.

Do you think their firing that Dee was a mistake? Of course I know a lot of people like Schultz.

Actually it was Marcia McLain who played Dee from 76-78. Martina played Annie. Those actresses played out the Beau,Dee,Annie story.

Dee was offscreen for several months before Jacquie arrived.Julie Ridley was also new as Annie.

Doug Marland had no interest in either character and that was really the end of the Stewart girls. In the case of Annie,it was understandable to some extent as the character had been married 3 times and was the mother of quads. Dee,however had a lot of potential as John's ex wife and a young single woman.

In the mid 80's,following general SORAS rule the quads could have come on the show as the new teens. That would have given Ellen more to do and kept Pat Bruder on the show.

Ellen still could have stayed thanks to her ties to Emily and Dani, so having the quads there may not have made a difference :( but you're probably right.

Marland clearly respected and mined ATWT's history but when he didn't want a character to be a part of that history, boy, they sure weren't. I never knew a darn thing about Annie or Dee until I got the ATWT history book, and I was shocked to learn Lyla had a sister Maggie, or a daughter Cricket.

Didn't the Stewart sisters make an appearance under Marland's pen? I think I remember seeing them at the Hugheses' house for some holiday or get-together on YouTube, and I'm pretty sure it was from early Marland...

Wouldn't the mid-80s have been way too soon for the quads to be teens? I thought they were born in 1984. I figured they would have been a good addition in the early-to-mid 90s, shortly after Marland's passing.

They came back very briefly for Chris's and Nancy's 50th wedding anniversary, and then when Chris died a few months later, and after that it was done.

This was the last episode ATWT was seen at the 12:30 pm timeslot. The following Monday B&B premiered and ATWT went to the 1:00 hour. Dan Region tells the audience during the closing credits of the change. I wonder had ATWT still been on the air had it stayed during the 12:30 timeslot and B&B take the 1:30 timeslot from Capitol.

Scheduling changes screwed a lot of the P&G soaps.

I had forgotten about that hilarious photo showing Kirk/Frannie/Jay/Marcy being "cool"
