Members Pine Charles
Oh, I loved that so much. I liked when Janet used to bring her food (usually potato chips & stale bread) and lower it down in that bucket.

Members LoyaltoAMC
I'm definitely more of a Kate Collins fan. Kate played Janet as a zany lost soul. Her version of Janet was a riot and seemed a lot more "AMC-ish" than Mattson's version, in that she played it more for laughs than Mattson did, kind of like in the Ray Gardner/Billy Clyde vein. The characters did horrible things, but you couldn't help being tickled by them. I liked Mattson at first, especially during the Jane Cox stuff. I thought Robin was an inspired casting choice. I think the show got in trouble when they tried to reform her. Felicia Behr believed the Janet had been played and planned on retiring the character. The planned exit storyline of her trying to take over Brooke's life WAS preposterous, but it would've gotten her off the canvas. When Francesca James took over, she decided to keep Mattson and reform Janet. That just never clicked for me, and I don't think Mattson was very good during this period. Members Adam
I enjoyed the redemption of Janet played by Robin Mattson, but to a point. As soon as McTavish got ahold of her and paired Janet and Trevor together as this happy family it had jumped the shark. Robin Mattson I felt was brilliant and had such a different approach compared to that of Kate Collins. She was able to appear psychotic without being cartoonish. A much more manipulative, intelligent version. I love Kate Collins and her Janet, but in terms of actual character development I preferred Mattson in the role. Robin Mattson could do comedy though. I personally loved her defending herself at her murder trial when she was accused of killing Laurel. And yes, the whole masquerading as Brooke as completely ridiculous. It was happening right around the same time as the voodoo storyline.
Members Steve
There were too many posts that I agreed with to try to quote. Robin Mattson played a less cartoonish version of the character, but Kate Collins was never given the chance to play "Sane Janet" so it's hard to compare them. The writer bringing Janet back with her old face and not explaining it was just stupid. I wasn't a fan of the Janet/Trevor pairing, either. It was too contrived for Trevor to fall for her after Laurel's death. Having said that, I don't think I would have enjoyed Janet posing as Brooke but it might have been interesting to see how Julia Barr would have played her. Members EricMontreal22
I have been disappointed that wehaven't gotten ANY scenes with Janet and Amanda since she had Trevor....
Members EricMontreal22
Was that when Janet felt that Brooke "stole" Piers away from her? So she was gonna take over her life? Interesting how divided people were of the happy "Dhillons"--I remember when they were written off a LOT of people online were enraged so I like readinghere that others never were too fond of them in that phase
Members R Sinclair
Yes. Brooke had become involved with Pierce and adopted Laura. Janet felt that Brooke had taken her "family" so she was gonna take over her life to get them back.

Members dragonflies
From SOD.com: AMC Comments On Head Writer Status Since Chuck Pratt was axed as AMC's head writer, the show has kept quiet about who is at the storytelling helm despite widespread reports that Lorraine Broderick, Emmy-winning former head writer, was serving as chief scribe. Now the show confirms that Lorraine Broderick has been rehired, but denies that she is serving in a head-writing capacity. Says a rep: "Lorraine Broderick is on as part of the writing team as an associate writer. We have no announcements to make about the head writer position." Members Jonathan
Well, hopefully their intent is to have her get to know what's been going on with this canvas of characters and then promote her officially.
Members LoyaltoAMC
More and more I'm getting the feeling that she's just intended to be interim, just stepping in to help keep things going until a permanent HW is named. If she were full time, they probably would've made some big announcement by now. My interpretation of all of this is that Pratt left of his own accord pretty suddenly and that they quickly had to get someone familiar with the show to keep it up until they could find someone long-term. This says to me that Frons was basically happy with Pratt and that things won't change very much under a new HW. I hope I'm wrong.
Members Sylph
But who posted that rumour about Frons giving Pratt an ultimatum to get a grip or else walk out the door?
