Multiple Emmy® Award Winning Actress Betty White Returns to B&B as "Ann Douglas"

Multiple Emmy® Award Winning Actress Betty White Returns to

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL In the Role of “Ann Douglas”

Leading an all Female Cast for Two Episodes of a Powerful Four Episode Arc

November 13, 2009…Los Angeles, CA…Multiple Emmy® Award-winning actress Betty White (“The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “The Golden Girls”) will reprise her role as the cantankerous and controlling “Ann Douglas,” mother of “Stephanie” (played by original cast member Susan Flannery) and “Pamela” (played by Alley Mills) on The Bold and the Beautiful in a powerfully written and acted story-arc that centers on the family dynamics of mothers, daughters and sisters; contrition, forgiveness and acceptance. White, as you’ve never seen her before, delivers the performances of her lifetime on November 18, 19, 20 and 23 when “Ann” unexpectedly returns to Los Angeles and attempts to control and manipulate her daughters, as well as her fate.

Additionally, in a first for daytime television, two of the episodes, airing November 20 and 23, will have an all female cast including series regulars Susan Flannery, Alley Mills, Hunter Tylo and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood along with guest-star Yvette Freeman, (“Nurse Haleh Adams” on E.R.,) as “Dr. Lewis.” All principal and under-five players are also female.

White has played the role of “Ann Douglas” on The Bold and the Beautiful since December of 2006, when “Stephanie” revealed to her stunned family that her mother is still alive and the terrible secret that the Douglas family shared. She is best known for her Emmy®-Award winning roles as “Sue Ann Nivens” on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and “Rose Nylund” on The Golden Girls. Her numerous other television credits include Mama’s Family, Ally McBeal, That 70’s Show, Everwood, Malcom in the Middle, The Practice, Boston Legal and 30 Rock. White also starred in the recently released feature film The Proposal, with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

These are, obviously, Brad's Emmy Shows. He didn't pick KKL and Jen Gareis for the B Story?

Thank gawd! Tired of the Logan Show. Glad to see Hunter in this press release. I think Stephanie, Pam, Ann and Taylor are going to shine in these episodes.

Is an all female cast really a daytime first?

They claim it to be and I think it is possible considering that there's always at least one character's son/husband or waiter in restaurant scene etc. floating around. And Female Only totally fits B&B since the male characters have always been mere sideline players.

Didn't ATWT have an all-female "women on a bus" episode??

I was coming here to post the exact same thing.

That was one of the two 50th anniversary shows. Men were involved in flashbacks, I believe.

I'm sure that soaps in the 60's/70's would have had episodes where only women were featured.

Those 15 min and 30 min shows often featured just a few characters and scenes and quite possibly female only shows happened, not by design, but simply by chance.

Actually Katherine Kelly Lang does appear on November 20 - Brooke's conversation with Steffy!

I do not watch this show but I liek this idea and I have a great respect for Betty White as an actress. She's awesome and I might tune to see how it plays out

Don't know about an all-female episode, but I know that GL did an all-male episode in the spring of 1992 that centered around Hamp's bachelor party.

Correct me if Im wrong but I beleive OLTL did an all female show for their Babes Behind Bars episode a few years ago
