OLTL: Discussion for the week October 26

I think OLTL really comes into its own when they focus on the simple drama between couples, families, friends, which really isn't so simple at all. It works much better than focus on camp, or gothic undertones, which is much more difficult to pull off. I know simple drama isn't what you will get with a Frons show but I think OLTL shines with the smaller stuff.

I really like Cris/Layla, much more than I thought I would. I think they're a very believable couple, especially her hesitancy to get involved with her sister's boyfriend.

ITA Carl. Ron Carlivati really excels at those simple heartfelt moments and I believe that's what makes a show individually different. OLTL is definitely better and much more well defined when the characters and the "small moments" as you said are its focus.

I loved today's show. I loved the premise of each character getting lost in their thoughts. It was a great way of showing each characters true feelings and vulnerability. It added a real level of intimacy for me that I don't think I would have gotten had each one just told another character how the felt. Kyle and Fish broke my heart as did Layla and Cristian. I hope these pairings eventually get more screen time because they exude romance as do Gigi and Sky, who have always been hot, IMO, and seeing them inch closer and closer is right on target for me.

I'm also surprised at how effective Starr/Langston/Cole/Markko were. The girls never got preachy and they always brought the point back to standing up for Dorian and what they believe in. Those scenes could have easily turned into an after-school special but they didn't for me.

The ending was also well done. I'm not a fan usually of soaps turning into MTV but this was very well done, probably because of the tone of the show today.

Finally, my only problem with today was John. Since when is he clairvoyant. Seriously.

I liked yesterday's show for all the same reasons but thought they could have done without the overabundance of fantasies. It detracted from the emotional resonance that was brilliantly established within the Fish/Kyle and Layla/Cristian dynamic. It amazes me how much characters like Schulyer,Fish, Kyle and Layla can be utilized so impressively where John still continues to stick out like a store thumb.

Fish & Kyle both have matching Hispanic Guy/Black Girl duos.

Like they sell them in combo packs at Burger King.

Dear Lord, today's episode is nothing but a sequel to yesterday's. Where the hell is TnT and TnTot?

With that hairstyle, you'd think Gigi would be a part of Dorian's gay wedding.

I hated it at first when I saw it on tv a couple of weeks ago but its growing on me

That photo of Jared is so geeky cute. He looks like Fish's brother or something.

And the pimping the characters give to John! He seems tohave bumbled as many cases as solved to my memor but everyone it seems, from Vicki to Brody on is always saying not, like most people might say "don't worry the police will deal with it" or even "remember your uncle is a good cop he'll egt to the bottom of this" (granted he's in England...) but no it's always "John will work it out"

I see they brought back Jackie Hoffman as Mrs. Eunice Burns today...she was seen at the beginning of today's episode when Shane said something to her, asking what her costume was supposed to be.

Who is Eunice Burns?

We have seen her a few times before.

She was the ticket taker at the Go Red ball who refused to take lip from Gigi when she tried to get in the ball in a blue dress (instead of red) because Stacy had stolen her dress, ticket, and used her name to get in with Rex.

Then we saw her working at the pharmacy that Markko went to when he tried to buy condoms for his and Langston's 'first time.'
