Y&R: Eric Braeden update

B&B should dump Lesley Kay and Susan Flannery and hire EB and MTS.

Why should they do that? Victor and Nikki have no place on B&B, Felicia and Stephanie have. (Although they should definitely use Lesli more than they do)

Bradley should have killed Felicia years ago since they can't think up a storyline for her. Lesli has gone back to ATWT's she's so bored. Susan has wanted to retire for the last 6 years or so but they won't let her because they think they can't survive without her. If Eric went over, I think enough viewers would pick up B&B to minimize the loss of Susan. Bradley Bell picked up Don Diamond and Eileen Davidson so another competing soap couldn't pick them up. I could just see AMC finding the cash now that they are moving to LA to hire EB to pair up with Erica and put him in direct competition with the B&B. Although I never watched Y&R for Victor, on the EW comments it looks like a significant number of viewers do watch for Victor and a planning to quit watching on November 2nd.

Juliajms, there were rumors that MTS didn't take a pay cut but maybe she only signed a 6 week contract and is permanently exiting with EB. B&B should dump Lesley Kay and Susan Flannery and hire EB and MTS.

Thanks Zoe. Man, if that's true I am one unhappy camper right now. I can deal without Victor. I don't really like him, although he's a love to hate kind of character for me. But if Nikki goes at the same time I'll feel the loss.

Exactly. Felicia is so unbelievably useless these days I could cry.

That's true about Davidson, but Diamont's hiring was actually an idea Winsor Harmon pitched to Brad. I don't think Brad was worried about a competing soap picking him up.

I could just see AMC finding the cash now that they are moving to LA to hire EB to pair up with Erica and put him in direct competition with the B&B.

That CANNOT happen. That can NEVER happen. :(

There's a huge difference between threatening to give up Y&R and actually doing it. Very few people actually will.

Many certainly did in 2008 when the show had the worst ratings erosion in its history and the show has never fully recovered from that loss of viewers.

Nikki is the heart and soul of the Newman family, I certainly hope she's not leaving along with Victor. The rumour part is that MTS didn't take a pay cut, the 6 week contract part is my speculation.

Worst ratings erosion -- true!

Never fully recovered -- not quite true! In the "Sudden Impact" era, MAB and crew did pretty much claw back to where they were pre-MAB/JG. That said, they didn't sustain it.

If you look at the current ratings, Y&R mostly is where it was last year...which means that they have pretty much held on to the low-ish place that MAB and JG brought them to.

I don't think these departures kill the ratings overnight. I just then they're like tiny pinholes in a huge air mattress...slow steady deflation. People who might otherwise have stuck around out of loyalty and habit...bit by bit...they drizzle away.

That's what I mean, the rise from the "Sudden Impact" era didn't hold or had any substantial long-term effects. For the official 2008-2009 season, Y&R was still down in viewers and households, as well as demos. So they revered all major growing trends, when all is said and done.

I see. I guess I was thinking that MST had her issues resolved so she'd come back after she gets Victor settled in at some clinic or whatever. It would suck if she agreed to the pay cuts and then they let her go just because EB is leaving.

And you would put anything past this regime? LOL.

I predicted that the second I heard Victor and Nikki were going on vacation together.
