Proposed Soaps Over The Years

He could have paid all his legal fees if he charged money every time the media/producers/execs blamed him for soap ratings...

Not only that, but he could've also bought back the memorabilia that eventually did put him in jail rather than try to steal it.

The April 24th 1984 SOD had this to say about 'Together Again'

VAYA CON DIOS - John McCook and Jaime Lyn Bauer sizzled but 'Together Again' has fizzled. That's the news from the NAPTE convention where we noticed that the acting made sparks, but the marketing strategy and overall concept didn't. We weren't alone in our observation as the serial project picked up few Stateside sign-ups. Producers insist they'll push forward with Mexican production and international distribution, but the loss of their two top stars makes success questionable. Both John and Jaime say,"Ole?No Way!" and tell me they've opted for stable family lives and burgeoning careers her in Tinseltown.

Thanks so much for this. Do we know what the show would have been about or who else was in the cast?

I thought JLB and McCook were both cooling in their careers by this time.

Very Interesting Wonder If It Coulda Worked If Given The Chance

I don't get all of the Spanish references, was the show to be shot or at least take place in Mexico or something?

Yes,to save bucks, the show was to be shot in Mexico. As for McCook and JLB,the career talk was strictly spin.

In an August 1984 Digest, a reader asks about the soap Jaime Lyn Bauer and John McCook were supposed to do, called Together Again. SOD says this was only a pilot, and the pilot was not sold. They also say that Jaime and John were only committed to the pilot and wouldn't have been on the soap if it sold.

Do any of you know anything about this show?

WEIRD I know they're beloved soap stars, but it's one thing to pull a Loving and get two big movie stars for the premier only to leave by the end, completely another thing to get two soap stars who most non soap fans woul dhave no idea who they were, to do the same.

Proposed CBS Soaps

[edit] Past Proposed Series

* 1957: The Will to Dream by Doris Frankel about the relationship between an atomic scientist and his wife

* 1964: Roy Winsor created The Widening Circle, a spinoff of The Secret Storm. A pilot was shot with James Vickery as Alan Dunbar and Diana Muldaur as Ann Wicker.

* 1971: Fred J. Scollay created Absent Without Love.

* 1972: Winifred Wolfe and Mary Harris[disambiguation needed] had a proposal for a one hour serial titled Yesterday's Child...Tomorrow's Adult

* 1982: Beverly Hills

* 1983: Grosse Pointe - set in Michigan; featured competing families in the auto industry and auto racers

* 1986: During her absence from Ryan's Hope, Michael Brockman, former President of CBS Daytime, asked Claire Labine to develop a new serial in 1986. Her proposal was entitled Celebration but never made it to the air. Had it been greenlit, Jane Greenstein would have been the Assistant to the Head Writer like she was on General Hospital from 1993-1996.

* 1986: The Billionaires by Barbara Bauer and Paul Rauch

Found some old '80s issues of Variety and there's one from 1987 where it mentions that Gloria Monty and MCA were developing a serial for Fox about a blue-collar family in the Northeast.

That's the one where after it was never completed she did the story on GH with the Eckerts.

I'm sure this has already been discussed here but was wondering if you knew any more about it.

It's from a Digest from around spring 1990. It basically talks about Secret Passions, "TV's first gay soap opera" running on cable stations in 11 major cities, produced and directed by David Gadberry. KYOU-TV, in Santa Ana, would not air the show, because of all the contrersy. This was even mentioned in Variety. The show featured love scenes between men, a gay JR Ewing, and a "radical lesbian".

Is any of this available to see?

Apparently David Gadberry has a Youtube channel, although I still didn't see any scenes in my quick look through. There's one that an anchorman talks over, and this behind the scenes:
