Members DRW50
Wow, kudos for putting all that in one or two posts. I never know how to do that.
Members soapfan770
Thanks, I forgot about the Soap World site. I always forget that Wendy Moniz was on that cover. I loved Moniz especially '97-'99 but I wonder why ver Dorn and Kinkead didn't make that cover. I'm not surprised a Lucy and A-M cover was a low seller. They tried so hard 1994-1996 to make A-M and Lucy into a super couple. The Brent/Marian story was great but otherwise they were on the dull side of things especially post Brent/Marian. There was that ridiculous Universal Studios wedding which only saving grace was it being crashed by Phillip. It was more of a 2000s problem of GL not getting any SOD covers except for a rare occasion.
Members DRW50
I think Maeve was off the show at the time. Jerry, I don't know. At that time GL was pushing Dinah so much. I had to stop watching at one point because of this and a few other heinous stories.
Members soapfan770
Oh I can imagine why, it wasn't until a few months into '97 the show caught on fire again after the horrendous 1996. Now that I think about it Maeve and Vanessa were in a very awkward phase and storyline with Vanessa is dead in Springfield but alive in Switzerland fiasco.
Members ~bl~
The GL cover in 1997 was done pretty last minute IIRC. There had been discussion during SOD GL chat about will GL get a cover for the anniversary. They took note, if you read the article in the actual magazine about that anniversary other than what was quoted at the photo shoot, it is mainly quotes with JvD and not with everyone. The SOD section on AOL had interviews and such and gifs of all the covers available for download. Unfortunately I think most of that has been lost, I'd have to find floppy disks and pray that I can get them read and working to share that.
Members shadow
Kristi Ferrell is so beautiful. I think the reason why she tested for the role of India was because initially India was supposed to be Beth's cousin (before Jesse arrived)then they changed it and made the character a Von Halkien. Ugh I hated Alan-Michael and Lucy, I was hoping TPTB would go for Gilly/Alan-Michael, though they flirted with it, it was dropped for that boring couple Yeah I had to stop watching GL when it became Dinah centric, she was annoying, but I also didnt like Hart or Cassie back then either another horrid triangle Edited May 29, 2011 by shadow

Members ~bl~
This blog was created by the wife of the late Tom O'Rourke (Justin Marler). It links to a lot of old articles about him, the info he was given when he auditioned about the Marler family and some video clips. Also on the page is part of his journals from his early days at TGL. In 1976, they taped the show the day before airing. He also talked about how ABC was different than P&G when it came to the treatment of their stars as he was friends with Jameson Parker. http://thomasorourkeactor.blogspot.com/
Members DRW50
When did he pass away Is he saying ABC treated actors better or worse? I always thought it was a stupid decision to fire Tom O'Rourke. And don't even bother with that recast...
Members ~bl~
He passed away in September of 2009. Jameson Parker as someone on OLTL was able to get other jobs at ABC shows due to the soap connection. P&G soap performers didn't have that ability. That's what he referenced. There is a lot to read, and I haven't gotten through all of it.
Members MichaelGL
Was that the brilliant Cindy Pickett in one of the clips from the acting reel? If so, dayum, now I'm dying to see more scenes of her in the role of Jackie.
Members DRW50
You know about the 1980 episode on Youtube and the ClassicGL clips with Cindy, right?
