While watching the August 1991 episode, I was very surprised to see Hawk running Company. I thought he and Sarah had gone to Italy by this time. Had Sarah just gone?

I was also reminded, as if I needed a reminder, of how incredibly unpleasant and dour Nick and Mallet were in every scene, and how Harley and Mindy were drained of any life or personality for these brooding pricks. I never liked the decision to make Harley a cop. I never liked her relationship with Mallet. I thought that might change over time but it never does.

That would have been great. Or working at WSPR, with Nadine.

I forgot to mention that I loved all the scenes with Maureen and Ed dealing with Bridget and her boyfriend, and that Dylan/Bridget scene. I think the next episode is when Maureen berated Bridget for letting Elvis into their home - I remember being enthralled by it. There was so much power in Ellen Parker's work.

They handled Bridget just about perfectly in her first few years on the show.

Yeah didnt like Harley becoming a Cop either, kinda limited her and changed her to become a sanctimonious pest imo lol.

LOL @ Bridget trying to seduce Dylan, who knew she would end up becoming the love of his life !

Yes, it was :(

In that 1988 episode, they talk about HB being gone. Was this just some vacation? Larry Gates wasn't actually gone?

How long did they last with writing Mindy as being part of Lewis Oil? I can't see her in that role.

It's interesting how they write Alan with such layers here - he wants to get back in business but doesn't want to hurt Alex or Phillip. Too bad that nuance did not last.

This must have been one of Pilon's first episodes as Alan.

I was reading an August 1989 SOD column which talked a little about what fans had been writing in to the magazine.

They included:

- fans wanted Justin, Beth, and Mike back on the show (I wonder if the fans were happy with the later handling of those two returns...)

- fans felt that Josh was not a good enough or strong enough man for Reva, as Kyle Sampson was

- fans wanted Roger to stay on, and reunite with Holly

- fans were tired of young characters like Rose being killed, and even worse, their love interests moving on to other beds too fast

    • I just read that Alice Halsey, the new young Rachel, has just landed the role of Laura Ingalls on the Netflix reboot of Little House on The Prairie. https://deadline.com/2025/05/little-house-on-the-prairie-laura-ingalls-cast-alice-halsey-1236383465/ Soooo...I don't see her remaining on Days for too long.
    • Jason, can you give me those dates, pretty please? If so, I'll do an edit of her. She was such a delight.
    • Sure, babe. I found those once when I was desperately searching for an Alexandra Spaulding dinner party date & I literally struck out everywhere else. We should throw a cyber party & invite Matt Smith & ChickenNuggetz* & whoever helps them with the Vault & Jason47 & Eddie Drueding ...
    • My late mom remembered Jordan Clarke as Tim Ryan.. and she said he was vastly different than Billy.  She also said she remembered that Rita and Evie were more tangled up with Tim when both came on the show.. while he ended up leaving with another character.   Then Rita was moved into the Ed/Holly orbit taking on the scheming traits of Holly (this was around the time of the original Holly leaving), and Evie got pulled into Ben's orbit.. but not sure if this was during his brief relationship with Hope or not.
    • Not Doug acting like people felt Dani might act during this Ted reveal.   Awww an Andre/Eva scene.    Oooo Silk Press Sheila and her crazy woman music.    MMmmmm...multiple cliffhangers!!!! Kat vs Eva. Nicole vs Ted.    Awww hell no!!! Not Silk Press Sheila confronting the Duprees. Anita might eat her alive. lol. And I was never so glad as to not see them. I was already annoyed at Vanessa/Doug interrupting the action. I actually might have felt a way about seeing them. For once. lol. I do think they were edited out though.   I mean...it's kinda hard NOT to look so      Ooooo I didn't think about that.
    • Rest in peace, Ruth Buzzi! Laugh In was before my time, but from the clips I have come across on YouTube, she was a very funny lady. Prayers to her loved ones.
    • First, Martin vs Ted. Now Kat vs Ted.
    • Team Silk Press Sheila!  I hope she topples the mighty Duprees because that family has it coming. The spoilers that were posted last week for today's episode had Ashley/Derek mentioned, but as we saw, they weren't featured at all.  Was that part of the spoiler a mistake, or did the show edit them out.    Nice to see a bit of Vanessa/Doug.. and I'm fascinated by Vanessa's perspective in regards to Dani/Bill's marriage vs Nicole/Ted's marriage. While this was a good episode, it does highlight that the show is lacking non-Dupree related characters.
    • Cry me a river! lol. Oh, Silk-Press.     Awwww no good night for Dani and Andre.    Uh oh. They are at the house. It's dark and Mona did let everyone off for the night...
