ATWT: September Discussion

The biggest continuity error has been the fact that the whole thing about all of Adam's misdeeds was supposed to be kept secret from Tom and Margo. This was the reason why Casey wasn't forthcoming about the truth behind his crossing state lines and may have spared him the prison time. Yet at some point Tom and Margo all the sudden knew of the atrocities Adam had committed and were very appalled. I feel bad for Casey I can understand Margo but I feel Tom should be harsher--dredge up some of that contempt for Hal he use to have.

Jade and Dallas are still in Oakdale as far as I know. The roles are recurring, though. Aaron is recurring also, which is why it upset me when he returned for the funeral. He didn't even mention where he's been. A character's exit should always be somehow addressed, IMHO, so that the audience isn't left hanging/wondering.

J.J., however, was sent to boarding school and that was explained on-screen when it happened. In the mean time, we've never heard anything about where John, Jessica, or Ben went when they left Oakdale (or that they even left). As far as I know, no one has mentioned anything. That's what I thought was the case with Adam; I thought he just kinda vanished from Oakdale after the whole cabin incident. No one ever said where he went. I might be wrong, though.... I don't know.

I know I should find some reason to object to the total recharacterization of Janet as some ultra-religious, controlling, manipulative Momma who would rather force her daughter to carry a child she doesn't want than listen to her child and let her make a decision that impacts the rest of her life....but since I don't GAS about Janet, and I'd much rather see Libs, Parker and eventually Carly all open cans and cans of Whoop Ass on her sanctimonious bee-hind....I'll live with her obnoxious behavior.

While some no doubt find Jack and Brad's 'tudes just as bad...sorry--anyone who trusts the "change" in Paul and Em needs their head examined.

Uh...to say the Craig/Ro stuff was the polar opposite of sexy was an understatement. Lindstrom seems to take the "vacuum hose" approach to kissing---and he looks like a dead mackerel smackin' up on poor Rosanna.

I don't trust the change with Paul/Emily. I know TIIC will find a way to mess it up; they always do. However, I am very welcome to the change. I was gonna cry bloody hell if I had to put up with one more innocent tween getting flucked by Emily; or one more psychotic act of behavior/manipulation/whining/kidnapping by a flare-nosed Paul. The change in character is welcome, but no, I don't trust it.

I don't trust the writers to not ruin Emily again. I don't trust the writers to not completely ruin Damian again. I don't trust the writers to not ruin Adam again. I'm so anxious.

I guess Carol Burnett was right when she called this As the Stomach Churns.

I do think the girl who plays Allison has improved, or as others have said, perhaps I've just gotten used to her.

I'm still enjoying Stuart Damon's intro to the show, he makes the Juicy Janet family more tolerable for me. And I like the Craig/Audrey scenes, even though I know it's unfair to ATWT fans to push this GH/PC couple. I guess since they aren't really a couple on here, and ATWT isn't marketing them and shoving them at people the way AMC did with Beth Ehlers and RPG, it doesn't bother me that much. Overall I think Lynn and Stuart are working out better than I thought they would.

I disagree about NB, i think shes fantastic. But ITA about the writing.

I agree. I loved seeing Maddie back and AC just fits so well and is refreshing to watch IMHO. I really wish she hadnt played 2nd middle to the much overrated Jen Landon for so long.

I agree.

This would be great.

I think its a combo. IMHO shes improved a bit, but not much. Overall im used to her in the role now. I actually much prefer her to the awful actress they had in the role. I really miss Peyton List's Lucy.

She did have some screen presence, but the character was such a mess (and that whole teen scene was such a contrived mess). Then they put her with the Chris who looked old enough to be her father. I had a lot of problems with ATWT in those years. The show isn't exactly great now but perhaps my expectations are lower, but I do enjoy the show more right now. This current actress reminds me more of what Alison probably would have been, as she was raised by the reformed version of Susan. I wish she had more edge but I don't mind that she doesn't.

    • Even if by some miracle Knots Landing continued, 1994/95 it would have been killed by ER.

    • Assuming that Marland had been allowed to write the Carrie story the way he'd envisioned, Millette would've been involved in the story. And she might've played a role in Andy Norris' return (if the speculation on that had ever materialized, and Marland loved bringing back bad boys) But he doesn't seem interested in Sara's personal life. And the women of Springfield could only be analyzed so much.
    • This better be something, because as I said, so far it's just cliches and stereotypes -- the story we've heard a thousand times about the homeless person who doesn't want a home and prefers to live on the streets.
    • @rsclassicfanforever thank you very much for the recent uploads of season 13 containing some episodes that were skipped or glitchy on YouTube!  I had a look at 3172 though and there is no audio for most of it? Would you have a copy with complete audio? Fingers crossed! Thanks again!

    • I like Margaret well enough in what I've seen of her as Paige - she is green but she has real star power.  I agree about the actor who plays Brian. He's...mostly just there. Not bad but not great.  My main issue is with the guy who plays Owen. He's just not appealing to me. I can believe Nola being obsessed with him, but he's draining to watch.  I'm surprised people objected to the quasi-incest elements as it wasn't anything that new for soaps.  Speaking of Kim, here's a rare episode of an anthology show she did called The Evil Touch.

    •   I get what you're both saying, and I think the show was lucky to have even made it that long, but I think they could have still maintained a certain audience - Second Chances did before the earthquake. CBS was an older network anyway. I think the premise of Knots was still usable, it was more the characters who were a problem - many of the older figures were played out. If the show had done a better job building up its younger cast instead of making so many poor choices in the late '80s and early '90s, they could have kept things going a little longer.
    • I wish I cared about the homeless lady as much as everyone else seems to. After the nothing burger that was the lawsuit, this just feels like another boring Naomi storyline at Orphy Genes since she has no office.
    • That's great to hear. Thanks. I wish that was more readily available.
