The only one I could see them getting rid of is Walton. Ted and Judith will stay because Maria and/or CBS wants to keep both of them on despite the unpopularity of the two.

Carl no one in daytime has good hair anymore. Have you seen the hair on Days of Our Lives and Bonnie's weave on As The World Turns!

y&r_fan, I know I give Tammin a hard time, but I do think she could knock her last scene out of the park. Sometimes when a bad actor or recast leaves they usually give their best performance during their last scenes. Many didn't like Nia Peeples, but she went out with a smack.

I think Shackelford is tied to Barabara Bloom, if she gets canned, then he's out fo there as well. I hope they don't get rid of, or minimize Walton. They GROSSLY underestimated her popularity during contract negotiations, so maybe they now know just how popular and valuable she is. Really.. it's JILL that's so popular and valuable, whether it be Walton OR Dickson. I do think Tammin will do OK in her exit scenes, as she can do heavy drama just fine... but this will be the first time she's going to most likely be paired with Maitland for extensive emotional scenes. And in THAT scenario, I must say, Maitland's gonna make her look like Dog dookey. Being able to hold your own opposite Diamont and Luckinbill is one thing, but doing it opposite Maitland is QUITE another...... when Maitland cries, it rocks you to the bottom of your SOUL.

I know but it's really bad on Y&R now. Rauch was supposed to improve these matters. The wigs and weaves on Tyra and Olivia have been laughable but even the people they should know how to style, like Chloe, they put bad extensions on them or force them to grow it out.

I think Conboy is fine, he just needs a strong executive producer over him to keep him reigned in. It's hard, because there is precious little GOOD quality video of 70's Y&R out there. But having lived through the era... Conboy's Y&R made everything else on daytime look like complete and utter sh!t. The lighting, the music, and the scene fades from one to another were beyond compare. And considering it was live to tape at the time, his work is amazing. CBS didn't offer him his own show for no reason.

I think they may believe if they continue to diminish Jill's airtime and her prominence as a character, then viewers will be fine with her leaving. They have diminished Jill, Paul, Lauren, Nikki, making viewers less interested when the axe falls. Viewers who have only recently started the show may just know her as that thorn in Katherine's side who gets yelled at by Billy.

Conboy loves to waste money though, and have you seen his taste in writers? Ellen Weston? James Lipton? Yuck.

He also loves his tacky hair models.

Conboy is a genius with production values, but story content and and keeping a show on a budget are not his strongest suits.

H. Wes Kenney is reportedly a professor at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television these days, btw.

Is Barabara Bloom going to get canned? I hope they don't get rid of Walton, but look how they treat her character. LML really did a disservice to her character and threw her under the bus for Gloria. I'm sure being paired with Maitland could make Tammin do a better job. Since this show only think of women existing for men, her last scenes will mostly likely be with Luckinbill.

I just heard that Christian Le Blanc's contract is also coming up, so that may explain why not only Lauren but also Michael has been so diminished and why they are having Rafe take more cases and are bringing on a brother for Kevin. I think he would take a cut, but I wonder how much of a cut they would ask him to take. They have positioned Michael and Lauren with their latest little story of being fed up with the family, to be written out in a very undramatic way, probably just to get distance from the family. Other than that, they have no story and are not in any spoilers for the fall.

DD as Paul is getting decent story now, but I heard the show asked him to take another cut even though he took a big cut on his last contract which I heard he did. MTS will be back in a few weeks and will probably have a decent story. JW also took a cut, so I don't see her going anywhere. I do agree though that she has not had great story, but she at least had decent screentime for most of the year. Then you have KSJ who stated he was written out for 6 weeks in tat interview a few weeks ago which seems like strange timing considering his on screen daughter has cancer. With CLB and TEB, I just don't know if these writers are interested in writing for Michael or Lauren. After all they have the Scoobies, Deacon and Ryder now.

I heard a spoiler from a very reliable poster/source at another board.

She said Patty Jane will take "Colleen" hostage during the second week of September or so.

It looks like this is how Colleen will meet her maker...

So, Mary Jane will be directly or indirectly responsible for yet another death. And people want this thing around for the long haul? Please.

    • They weren't in town, but Fletcher worked at the paper (and we saw anniversary headlines for the 50th, although I don't remember if Roger was one of them), and I'd think Alex would have at least heard of him due to the damage he did to Spaulding only a few years before her return to the fold. I know I have to remember it's not real life, of course.
    • YES. The videos being uploaded to Spauldingfield are almost to the point where Alan is reintroduced. They're already talking about the guy he pretends to be, and yes, he returns at a masked ball. In fact, that masked ball is almost beat for beat the same as the masked ball where Alex was introduced! Get a new schtick. Before the Kobe era, that's pretty much what they did. Characters would just show up. Maybe other characters would talk about them for a while--the Chamberlains, Tony, Maureen, Andy, Kelly, Carrie--but then they would just appear. When Hope came back, she simply knocked on Bert's door and said something like, "Hi, Grandma, I'm home again." No particular fanfare. Sometimes it would be a bit dramatic--Jennifer and Morgan were introduced when Mike accidentally crashed into their car, for instance, and Alan and Elizabeth were introduced through Jackie's flashbacks when she was remembering giving up Phillip for adoption. Nola was involved in the Roger return. Roger's return in 1980 was very dramatic, but in a way that made total sense. He was trying to kidnap a child, so dressing up as a clown did not seem crazy. The mask bit was not only silly, it didn't even make sense. Alex never knew him, so there was no reason for him to be masked in front of her. And he didn't have to be skulking around SF for months. Again, I will cut Long a little slack--it was not her idea to bring back Roger, she was told to do it. She never wrote for the character. It was something that was not planned. They originally went to Zaslow to offer him the role of Alan. He, of course, turned them down because that was a ridiculous idea, but then he suggested coming back as Roger. At such short notice, it's not strange his return was not handled well.
    • Eh...but neither had been in town. Know the name Roger Thorpe? Sure. But Alex would have gone crazy trying to memorize all of Alan's co-conspirators/lovers/wives and Fletch didn't even know Roger/Adam was on the island, IIRC. But who knew or should've known each other is always a little dicey when people come back to town.
    • I wouldn't call Tomas' cuts a modern cut. They appear to be a slim/extreme slim cut⏤cut slimmer down the sides, with a higher armhole, which pulls up/out, depending on the fit of the person's body. Again, I feel like Ms Featherstone is buying to fit the wrong parts of the body; instead of buying to fit their widest parts (shoulders), she's buying things to fit their middle/waist (which is the easiest to ultimately fix without a complete re-cut), and it shows in the finished product. And the only reason it irks me is because I worked in suit sales for nearly ten years, and I notice these things immediately. The fashion(s) on this soap are miles ahead of three of the four others (I like the fashions from Y&R), but the tailoring is a choice, especially where the men are concerned.
    • There probably would have been a good chance they knew of him, especially with his ties to Spaulding and his being involved in so much scandal (meaning there would be plenty of photos and articles around they both would have seen), but I agree the mask was silly, clearly just a TV moment.

    • I think all the suits are fit too tight, except for Jon Lindstrom's. DC lawyers/doctors are not all LA fashion elites. Yes, maybe Tomas would have a more modern cut to his suit, but an established guy like Bill wouldn't go around looking like that lonely button on his jacket was ready to explode constantly.
    • I do think there's room for optimism, especially with Amazon making enough new episodes to last until December. There's still time for the various players to get their ducks in a row. Guess we'll know soon enough!
    • I do agree it's better to just have people pop back into town. I never understood why Roger needed a mask on an island, when neither Fletcher or Alex would've known who he was. And the vine...sigh. Couldn't he have just been sent crashing through a window or something?
    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
