...Already Gone.

PERFECT choice for a single. Its beautifully heartbreaking. Kelly's vocals are incredible in it. Here's a live version of the song and below that is the album version.

What do you guys think? Yay or nay?

I agree completely. This was actually written by Kelly and Ryan prior to Beyonces Halo which its compared to. Tedder only wrote it for Beyonce after she heard Already Gone and demanded a song like that be written fo her.

While Halo isn't bad it lacks the heartwrenching emotion that Kelly expresses. Its more of a 'Hi I can sing' showcase for Knowles.

Its a shame.

Kelly co wrote Already Gone long before Ryan wrote Halo for Beyonce, but because Halo was released first, Kelly is going to get the backlash.

Its an incredible song and should be judged on its own merits. I just hope it is.

On a happy note, the music video was released. Its a subtly moving video, IMO. Kelly makes one beautiful ghost.

I beleive Halo was written quite a while ago, Tedder initially offered it to Leona Lewis, who rejected it, and Beyonce heard about it and liked it. She added her own lyrics and co-produced the song with Tedder.

Neither Kelly or Beyonce should be blamed for any of this. Tedder should be blame for recycling crap and giving it to two different artists. Granted, every producer has their own unique sound, but it's not like Tedder even tried to make the production on either song all that different.

Both Beyonce and Kelly are Sony Music artists as well...

Good point. The plus side is that both singers have the talent to make it sound like their own style. Beyonce wails as usual, and while good at it, she always lacks emotion.

Kelly really portrays the hurt and the sadness in her song, which moves me more.

Word is that in the original edit of the video, she falls down the stairs at the end and dies, thus explaining the whole "ghost Kelly" theme in the video, but once again, the label outweighed everyone's vote and cut it out of the final version.

Not true, in any way.

tedder wrote it and gave it to Leona Lewis. She couldnt record it because she was busy. RT then took it to B who added some of her own style/lyrics to it.

I like both. Already gone is great, Halo is great. I do think they sound a lot alike, but i dont think thats a bad thing. IMHO, 90% of Tedders songs sound alike and i like the way they sound.

Kelly bitches about a lot of [!@#$%^&*]. I love it, lol. Im glad the record label released this, its by far the best song on her otherwise blah album.

The video is stupid. They shoulda left the scene explaining why there is a ghost Kelly.

But if we are talking Halo vs AG? Halo wins for me by a landslide. I cant freakin stand Beyonce, but she brought it for that song. The lyrics are perfect, the music is perfect, all of its perfect. But again, i really like AG.

I don't see the big deal of songs being similar - if it's good, it's good (which I think both are). Producers re-use beats or take beats from another song all the time, like who cares.

It matters when the masses think you stole the music or the beat or the concept.

It's one of the biggest reasons why Loverboy(Mariah's Lead Single from Glitter) sucked so hardcore is because she was forced to use another 80's beat after Mottola gave the sample idea to J-Lo for "I'm Real."

But maybe that's justice for her and/or her songwriter stealing Xscape, "One of Those Love Songs" and using it for "Thank God I Found You."
