Until they remember how to tell stories or make viewers care, I'm not sure if the ratings are going to have a big improvement. The only time the ratings went up in the past year was when they had some semblance of good pacing and balance.

GH and AMC have fallen so far, and yet I don't think they will ever change, unless its for the worse.

Perhaps it's too early to make this call, but could DAYS beat cancellation? Just a few months ago I had written this show off but their ratings are holding steady and are better than all of ABC and half of the CBS lineup.

I know I added the show to my DVR this week after hearing good buzz and seeing that Summer Promo they're running. I haven't watched this show in more than a decade, after I watched it faithfully through the 80s and early 90s. I watched a few episodes last week and was entertained enough to give it a shot. It's hardly perfect (but what soap is?) . . . I just . . . I enjoyed it. And I don't miss Marlena and John and I kind of like that I'm getting to know a whole new set of characters . . . fewer hang-ups from prior preferences and such. . . but so many still have familiar ties to core families and characters, so I'm not totally lost either.

GH has thoroughly disappointed and disgusted me (and it was the show that supplanted Days as my go-to soap. . ), but I still want something to unwind with when I get home from work, so I'm giving Days its chance.

Well I agree with the person above about cancellation on one part. I don't care anymore.

Does that mean that I want them all to be cancelled - no way. But when they are I won't care.

A year ago if GL had been cancelled I would have probably cried, but the powers that be behind all 8 of the shows left have stolen any affection and attachment I had to the shows that I don't care anymore.

What used to be sitting down and watching family is no longer that way for me. Every show is just a show I watch. I never thought I would feel that way about any of the shows. It all adds up to why I can go a few days at times and miss the shows and not feel anything about it anymore.

And it wasn't me. Every asinine story that the shows have done is what did it. All the ignoring of characters I loved and attached too in favor of their pets did it. Every time they ignored my feelings and made them null and void with undoing the deaths of characters I mourned and cared about for the sake of shock did it.

So I don't feel bad in saying at all that I don't care anymore if they are cancelled or stay put.

But that doesn't mean that I want them cancelled. I would love to see the genre survive but I personally think all 8 shows on are past the point of being saved anymore.

And I for one feel the same way about Y&R too. As I said in another thread I am still amazed by Y&R's technical aspects. The show looks great; the acting is great; the dialogue is great. But the stories stink. They don't even know how to tell one. Every story that had promise is not one big muddled pile of confusion.

And to me they totally jumped the shark with the Phillip "death" being undone. I'll never look at Y&R with the same feeling again.

I think this is exactly what they're going to do. Heck she starts out great and stays great for awhile, maybe she can give the show another 2 years, cause right now I don't think the show is going to make it another year with Pratt at the helm

At least she has a good year in her, I think she has close to two, cause Pratt IMO basically sucked from day one. The tornado had potential but he blew it.

    • Now coming into June...well...   I knew it was coming but I didn't like the start to the next round of Dani/Bill/Hayley. As the 3 A plots from the start of the show (The SilkPress storyline and Martin's Secret being the other two), it needed to be benched for a while to develop those characters and allow other characters and storylines to grow. 3 months in, Hayley is the weak link, Dani is still divisive, but not boring, and Bill has been making his mark with some plots faster than others. So last week seeing the story starting to loop back around to them with Hayley's potential pregnancy, I honestly had mixed feelings.   I get it. The SilkPress storyline is currently in aftermath/next turn mode, so it has to be moved into a C plot position. Moreso if we want to keep the very talented Miss Trish around. And I love how clever the writers are being with the storyline. They give us enough in the episodes and are still playing out beats to keep the appetite fed. I don't feel like anyone is being dumbed down to keep her around. And Trish is giving nuances in her alone scenes with NuTed. I shouldn't care for a clear psycho, but she be selling it. That said...I wish they had given us a little more of the Martin's Secret storyline in the last week of the month though I loved the game of cat and mouse Bill did on Martin and Smitty to keep the storyline alive and active after it had a nice build beginning of May and vanished for a week mid-May. And it appears like it's about to go back to the backburner as an A plot which of course leaves the A plot of Dani/Bill/Hayley.   I am probably in the minority as someone who is not anti-Dani here and even she annoyed the heck out of me last week. In character true, but I just felt like there was a way to get all of that across without it feeling like...as I've said before...one step forward, two steps back...and have it feel organic. I liked Hayley got a little bit of edge with her, but she still ain't no match for Dani. And it reminds to be seen if we should be going back to that well of a story yet.   Now about today's show...   And I thought Tracy was bad! lol. But YES. Sharon has been worth the wait. And so has Anita's story! Finally having TT in the limelight. This has been a nice slow burn for me and a nice B plot. And the actress is good. The wig is giving. And her holding what Anita's secret is over her head and threatening to tell Vernon....Ooooo...that is what I was waiting for.    And speaking of bad...I thought Eva vs Kat was a great rivalry. But I am loving the rivalry that is growing with 'Nancy Drew' and Silk Press Sheila! They both get good licks in and are so cunning with each other. And I definitely have liked that since the anniversary party, that it has been growing. Now that Kat has been proven right, she has not backed down. And neither has SilkPress. And we got a 'Ms. B@tch' moment, too? LOVE. Eva coming up with a trump card was delicious and so 90s Sami Brady. GOOD. And the coda with Jacob and the expert...YES. The Silk Press storyline has been the best paced on the show so I love that the aftermath of the anniversary party continues to be so...barring one flaw...well for me. Not enough Nicole's POV.   And I like the C plots on display. And by that, I mean Chelsea with Vernon. And it made me wonder what the writers have plan for her love life now that the throuple is over with. I was watching her and going awww.   And of course the mystery man around Martin. I am starting to wonder if he really even works at the country club given how he made a run for it. That would be a twist.    Speaking of Martin...good to see him in scenes with his father and mother.    I'm getting used to NuTed.    I felt the last episode of May was a bit of a letdown, but this was a very nice recovery.
    • Unless they cut him, I'd think he would stay. Surely, he didn't choose to return because he expected high quality. I figure he gets to work when he wants and spend a lot of time doing his own thing and being with his family.
    • The writing for Liz and Lucky is indeed terrible, but if JJ signed a one-year contract he may be gone in a couple of months anyway. Perhaps they’re just cutting their losses.
    • That would be his older sister Stacey. She was the center of a big story back in the day. Nola was out to snag medical student Kelly Nelson, who she thought would provide her with the life she craved. He was in love with a girl named Morgan. Nola plotted to get pregnant by him, but couldn't manage to get him in bed. So she seduced Floyd, who thought she was in love with him. When she knew she was pregnant, she got Kelly drunk and made sure he woke up next to her in bed. Kelly believed her when she told him he made her pregnant. They were about to elope to Las Vegas, but her mother ratted her out and Kelly abandoned her. She almost married Floyd, but jilted him at the altar. She went to work for Quint. When the baby came prematurely, Kelly saved both of them. She named the baby Kelly Louise to irk Morgan, who was now married to Kelly. When she fell in love with Quint, she had a change of heart over all the trouble she had caused, so she changed the baby's name to Anastasia Louise, shortened to Stacey. Quint was a devoted stepfather and Henry treated her like his own granddaughter.  After Quint and Nola leave SF, I believe Stacey is never seen again. Which is odd, you would think they would have brought her back with Nola and J, but they never did.

    • The counts seem small even for B&B. Thanks for posting!
    • Sooo Nick is inviting Sharon to France for this Dumas party thing. The same place they reconnected years ago during the Shick/Phick years. I wonder if it’s going to be on location? I’m going to assume not. I’m sure Y&R doesn’t have that kind of budget anymore.
