She left GL because she was unhappy there (and because it was obviously headed to cancellationville) and got a job at AMC...I don't see what's so bad about that. And the stuff at the Emmys was just network promotion.

I think he has chemistry with a lot of the women but the character feels almost asexual now (and I think a lot of the blame goes to the writing) which is just really ironic.
