June 16, 200916 yr Member I would like the person back who was writing for Lily who wanted to jewelry maker. Not the person who made Dru a nutcase.
June 16, 200916 yr Member No, I don't want them back either, Sylph. But LML and now MAB have made me miss Smith, how sad. This show needs a major overhaul, not only with its cast, but with its writing team. I was saying that when Maria Arena first came. Lynn Latham "vision" was so wrong on so many levels. But a return to past, re-telling of old stories, "amazing '79 again!", cr*ppily written soap clichés and signature flower shots are not the way either.
June 16, 200916 yr Member No Alvin, you got that wrong. 'Got worse' in the board world; and the 'worse than GH, AMC, ATWT' part was a joke. Neither of those shows are nowhere near as good. Do you watch those other shows? I think Y&R is pretty much on par right now with them, only with better production values and better acting in some cases. But whatever it is, we know Y&R isn't as good as it could be or as good as it was a couple of months ago.

I agree, MAB doesn't use history for depth, she uses it because she's too lazy to come up with interesting storylines for the future. This woman hits us over the head with past history, and a lot of them time it comes out of nowhere. See Phyllis and Jack's conversation about Patti Jane in Monday's episode. Someone needs to clean house at this show. They have an inexperienced writer like MAB. They have someone with a polarizing track record like Hogan Sheffer. They have a talentless hack and close friend like Scott Hamner still there. Who the hell though this would be a good long term combination? Edited June 16, 200916 yr by Y&RWorldTurner

But whatever it is, we know Y&R isn't as good as it could be or as good as it was a couple of months ago. I may not be watching all of them all the time but I do check in from time to time and read every spoiler... and it's really bad, IMO. The problem won't go away until a huge number of people are fired. Sadly, the industry will go down with these hacks. And I never said Y&R is amazing, I just said it's more interesting than some of the other soaps. We can continue whining about all of these writers but the reality is we will never see the end of Brian Frons, Jean Passanante, Charles Pratt Jr and Robert Guza Jr. And if we do, it will already be too late. Y&R still brings entertainment to me even though there are a lot of things bothering me about the show at the moment. But flashing back to last year it was no different. The only thing watchable was Nikki/Victor fighting and maybe a bit of Adam/Heather, or not even that. It was waaaaay worse than it is now. But I still watched.
June 16, 200916 yr Administrator Tomorrow's US show is fantastic! Nina/Jill/Katherine = gold! When all 3 are screaming it's awesome. LOL The Victor/Adam scenes were pretty good too: "Are you playing me for a fool?!" LMAO!! I love it Victor's a hard ass.
June 16, 200916 yr Member I still can't believe they can't cut 6-7 crappy actors from contract and keep Melody Thomas freakin' Scott there.
June 16, 200916 yr Member Never going to happen. We don't know that. With soap budgets getting smaller and smaller, I assume someone will have to be fired, and not just the actors. Or at least MAB can replace her crappy Co-HW's.

I do agree that MAB should probably keep her Co-ExecP spot with Rauch and let the writers do their jobs... but who?

I only caught the last bits and pieces, I decided to purposely miss the rest, because I wanted to watch the show in its entirety since what I saw was good. Tricia/Jess/Jeanne are magic. It's like no time has passed at all. Y&R is going to sweep them acting awards next year on the female side.

I have a feeling this summer is going to bomb (I mean look at these spoilers), and they'll be more than happy to do some restructuring. This month has already been off to a less than stellar start ratings-wise. As for who, anyone with a decent trackrecord at this point, or just pair someone with Natalie or Janice. I'm willing to give them a chance. I'm sure Sylph is willing to help them figure out who too.
