I was saying that when Maria Arena first came. Lynn Latham "vision" was so wrong on so many levels. But a return to past, re-telling of old stories, "amazing '79 again!", cr*ppily written soap clichés and signature flower shots are not the way either.

I agree, MAB doesn't use history for depth, she uses it because she's too lazy to come up with interesting storylines for the future. This woman hits us over the head with past history, and a lot of them time it comes out of nowhere. See Phyllis and Jack's conversation about Patti Jane in Monday's episode.

Someone needs to clean house at this show.

They have an inexperienced writer like MAB.

They have someone with a polarizing track record like Hogan Sheffer.

They have a talentless hack and close friend like Scott Hamner still there.

Who the hell though this would be a good long term combination?

I may not be watching all of them all the time but I do check in from time to time and read every spoiler... and it's really bad, IMO. The problem won't go away until a huge number of people are fired. Sadly, the industry will go down with these hacks.

And I never said Y&R is amazing, I just said it's more interesting than some of the other soaps. We can continue whining about all of these writers but the reality is we will never see the end of Brian Frons, Jean Passanante, Charles Pratt Jr and Robert Guza Jr. And if we do, it will already be too late.

Y&R still brings entertainment to me even though there are a lot of things bothering me about the show at the moment. But flashing back to last year it was no different. The only thing watchable was Nikki/Victor fighting and maybe a bit of Adam/Heather, or not even that. It was waaaaay worse than it is now. But I still watched.

I only caught the last bits and pieces, I decided to purposely miss the rest, because I wanted to watch the show in its entirety since what I saw was good.

Tricia/Jess/Jeanne are magic. It's like no time has passed at all. Y&R is going to sweep them acting awards next year on the female side.

I have a feeling this summer is going to bomb (I mean look at these spoilers), and they'll be more than happy to do some restructuring. This month has already been off to a less than stellar start ratings-wise.

As for who, anyone with a decent trackrecord at this point, or just pair someone with Natalie or Janice. I'm willing to give them a chance.

I'm sure Sylph is willing to help them figure out who too.

    • Nope still in development. ABC/Disney are having their upfronts today though, so there's a very slight hope we might get an update.
    • Has anyone ever posted January and February 1974? I can't find them in the 'Look Back to 75' thread. Thanks.
    • Did January and February 1974 DSN ever get posted? I can't seem to find it in this thread.
    • I agree. Especially after SilkPress got back to her apartment and started to mock Nicole. Her dislike for Nicole and seeing her as a threat to her getting Teddy Bear is growing worse. So I could see her pulling a kidnapping on Nicole at some point. If anything she was going there to poke the bear and got pressed (pun unintended) when the bear gathered her.   Completely understandable.

    • I swear this entire time I thought Roman knew about the Phillip/Vivian letter lol.  I do like how mature Roman/Kate are as a couple.  It makes me sad the new writers never got a chance to write for John/Marlena. I agree with @AbcNbc247 that the Felicity stuff is a bit after school special-y.  I am pretty sure that (most) of the viewing audience is aware that a grown man should not be shouting at any teenage girl especially one with disabilities.  Just let Xander apologize and move on. Linsey Godfrey was in her Sarah baby voice mode today and it irritates me to no end.   I know it's a cutesy thing her and Xander do but it's annoying. Bringing Kevin back is strange, but I do like the use of history.  I do think Rex probably could have been used instead, but whatever.  I don't care about Rex much either lol.
    • I mean over the past decades. But I do agree that in recent years now, the writing is not working for them as well as it used to then. It's same old, same old...which is what made the Damian storyline refreshing. At least for me.
    • Did Denise give any interviews where she talked about her first few years on GH... '73-75? I wonder if she had any regrets leaving Days for GH, as from what I've read, the show was in the dumps writing-wise, so am thinking she didn't have great story? Any Leslie story highlights I've seen always start with '76, after Gloria Monty took charge.
