Y&R: Shocking Role Recast

I do think Rauch was involved in the Walton thing though. I mean come on all the actresses thrown out in all the reports were actresses he loved and worked with in the past. That has always made me think he was involved in it somewhere.

I am so not reading this entire thread right now.. but...

1. If CE quit ONLY because of the same sex aspect of the storyline... I dont find it to be an anti-gay move. He, for whatever reason, didnt want to then it may just be that. Tobe homophobic implys that someone hates gays. Just ebcause CE didnt want to hook up with one, faking it or not, doesnt mean he hates gays. I have a lot of friend, str8 guys, some will kiss another guy during say spin the bottle, some wont. I am not talking about a deep makeout either, a kiss. It doesnt mean they hate gay people. Odd comparison, yes, but whatever. I am a little impaired, lol. Now it may be unproffesional, but lets remebers actors are still people too. They are not forced to do anything they are personally not OK with it. They can leave, and he did. Yes he broke a contract and all that, and thats messed up, but if my job told me i had to do something i wasnt okay with i might also quit. Plenty of aqctors over the years have left roles because of this issue.

I also think he is being judged unfairly as we dont know the entire story. So far we have one side from a tabloid journalist.

I love the recast. He was great on Veronica Mars.

I cant wait to see this storyline playout.

I dont think that its the shows fault. They dont need to tell everyone everything they are planning. Its obvious Y&R is on it when it comes to stuff liek this. jess walked off the set and they HAD a recast within a week. They got an adam recast in what, a day?

IMHO, this is a blameless situation where people seem to be trying to pin it on people. Stuff happens, be it on a soap opera set or a office place.

Two hours? CE quit on Tuesday and Muhney didn't sign until Thursday.

Hirsch has a point about Rauch, he's got a reputation for being an uncaring bastard, especially toward actresses.

There were so many publications and writers that I followed growing up as a kid and just prior to my joining SON and turning it into what it is today. I am now amazed at how much respect I have lost for many of these people in the time I have managed this website.

Hirsch now joins an exclusive list of writing talent that should keep their mouths shut, according to me.

This whole situation has exposed the online soap community for what it is: a mean, nasty, inbred small town. This is Mayberry and Nelson is Clara Edwards running around spreading gossip. "I hear sumpthin awful happened down at Maria Bell's place! I heared that Chris Engen didn't want to kiss another man and runned off into the woods!" Now everybody is coming into Floyd's barbershop giving their two cents, "I knew he was no good!" "What do you expect from his kind?" "I hear he hates kissing black women too!" Aunt Bee (Perez) is fanning herself in shock that something like that could happen here in this day and age all the while loving the attention. Sheriff Taylor is trying to get the townsfolk to see reason but that's hard to do with Goober screaming "Homophobe!" at the top of his lungs. And Barney Fife is still looking for his bullet.

Mt. Pilot is looking pretty good right now.

Errol,

As much as I love Nelson, I am so afraid he is the one that is going to end up getting hurt more and more by this esp. if in coming weeks and months he can't come up with more on it. There are still tons of people mad at him over the whole Days fiasco and accuse him of making all that up because the scoop never was followed up and Days hushed it and smothered the truth.

Too many more of these scandals that go nowhere but the inuendo and gossip he is going to lose more and more crediibility. I mean he already seems to get more venom thrown at him than any other soap opera journalist.

And after the fact that the man never had much good to say about Engen and then the lambast he gave him just a few days before he broke the story, many are already looking at him suspeiciously. I have even seen him be accused of being happy to report this because he already didn't like him.

And Errol I agree with you, so many of the journalists I followed and loved have lost so much respect wtih me.

I still miss the days of the Paul Denis type journalists. I don't how many times I have seen Hinsey or Hirsch post asking for people to tell them what the story was on a certain character as they do not know. If you are going to be a soap journalist you should know soap history. Paul Denis did.

And he had personal relationships with them that I don't think any journalist since then has had. I remember when Marjorie Gateson - longtime star of The SEcret Storm - had her stroke, he would visit her often in the nursing home and report back on it in his magazine. He would allow you to send cards to him and he would take them to her. He did for many others too. He would have them call him and tell them personal things about their lives.

I really miss that.

Thank you.   That was part of my reasoning as well. I think about the days of Kevin, Joey, and Jessica on OLTL or Lucky/Liz/Nik/Sarah/Emily on GH or the Last Blast Kids on DAYS or the Glow by Jabot kids, and it takes me back. Sure I started soaps due to the older cast with their divas, but I do like to see people around my age back then, too. Great memories.   So I love a good relatable teen tale. Bullying. Hormones for the Bad Boy. College choices and internal conflict.
    • Thank you for the information.  I did listen to the entire interview with Miss Roux -- way back when it was first released.  But I am unable to recall her mentioning Connie Ford, and don't have time nor effort to listen to the entire thing again, just for one small morsel. So again, thanks for responding.    I do recall Roux sounded extremely fragile and perhaps a bit wounded in the interview. I almost felt guilty for even listening to it.  So perhaps that has some influence on my reluctance to listen to it again.  She seemed troubled, to say the least.
    • Boxer-briefs, huh?   Well...called it on Cane/Giggly Heffa hooking up so not surprised.
    • Do you have Addie’s first air date??
    • Even now Victor is always so warm with Ashley. I liked their brief re-pairing as well.
    • @depboy Thanks. That does help. @titan1978 @Paul Raven Really enjoying the analysis of the production methods and what Monty was doing.  I wish we got some of those biopics here that a few UK soaps got as a biopic on Monty's first few years at GH would be fascinating.
    • The original 'mansion' was one of the set upgrades they did in 1980 . It was the Chandler residence. When that story fizzled out I think it became Stuart Whyland's house -not 100 on that. But it was revealed that Stuart was working for the Di Mera's (rewrite) so Stefano moved into that house. Mmmm...then it became Alex Marshall's? Neil and Liz lived there also. At some point it was finally replaced.
    •   Thanks. I'm glad she got to as I know some producers tend to get mad if actors want to direct.
    • I agree; I just wish we'd actually gotten a chance to see a modern Jack/Nikki pairing. It would have been my dream come true, especially since we got Ashley/Victor.
    • I don't remember that. What I recall is Alan living at Revabend, working as a farm hand and listening to Reva b!tch about money. Truly, I felt sorry for Pilon having to play that.
