Phyllis won't sell, though, because she has Summer's welfare to think about. And even though sparks do fly between Phyllis and Brooks, once Lance returns suddenly, and she sees the dynamics between father and son, she pulls back. She went down that road with Nick and Victor, and she just isn't up to it again. Yet, Leslie, who is also concerned about Brooks, thinks Phyllis is actually good for his son, as she sees how he has bonded with her and with her daughter (ironic, since Phyllis is like Lorie in many ways). Yes, he covers for his family due to a major guilt complex but he is not actively trying to hurt others. And again, MAB has continued using Michael in the same way LML used him and that is nothing more than a prop to his family. She could move him away from the family, but she doesn't. She is more fascinated with writing for Kevin and Gloria and using Michael to clean up their messes and using Lauren as a comfort to Michael. MAB needs to change the way they are written.
