Mark, I don't think that it is realistic to start from scratch with the ABC soaps, but letting the inmates run the asylum is not the answer either. I have said it before and will say it again, all each of these soaps need is an empowered talented co-headwriter/consultant. Sri Rao could reign in Guza and Phelps and stop them push them further away from the mob.

Adding Hogan Sheffer saved Y&R from MAB's boring stories and ridiculous indulgences like Sabrina and Victor boring us to tears as they wandered through the museum of MAB's pet artist. It is conveniently forgotten by the posters here who continually praise MAB, but Y&R was hurdling into the abyss before Sheffer became co-headwriter. This team approach would do the ABC soaps a world of good.

What ABC Daytime needs to do is bring in Wisner Washam and Lorraine Broderick for AMC. Then find a fresh group of young aspiring writer's who have a passion for writing stories about social issues and family and friendship. As Washam and Broderick head write for AMC, their new writing team will learn from them. When the time comes, the reigns will be handed over and the whole cycle will start over again with fresh blood coming in and learning from the current regime.

The same should apply to OLTL and GH. For OLTL, find writer's like Nancy Curlee and her husband Stephen Demorest. They are intelligent enough to reach into OLTL history and make magical things happen.

GH should have a new EP like Wendy Riche who I'm sure is able to find someone like a present day Claire Labine.

This boys club and daytime nepotism needs to end. It is the kiss of death to the genre.

And again I am not saying Frons doens't push certain things but he doesn't write the show. Guza and Pratt wrote these stories. And I'm not saying I love Frons. He needs to go to. His comments about Genie Francus alson with the others you stated are horrid. But I think letting Guza do his own thing which IMO he's already doing is not the answer. I just think Guza and Frons along with Frons and Pratt share the same vision.

Most of the soap blogs, soap magazines and fanbases are really getting on my nerves these days. Branco, DC, fanbases, etc. are not doing the soaps any favors pushing their narrow ridiculous agendas. This is why I like Serial Drama. I find Mallory and Becca's snarky criticism far more honest and helpful to the genre as a whole. There are so many things wrong with the ABC soap that focusing on two couples (Jason/Liz and Spinelli/Maxie) is craziness. If anything these blogs should be giving GH some positive feedback for moving away from the mob and not bashing them because these fanbases cannot get their way.

I don't think Guza is responsible for what Kelly Monaco wear on the show. That wardrobe job and I think Kelly herself have imput on what she wear. That only because I've seen her wear the same clothes or similar off the show that she wear on the show.

I was specifically referring to the numerous gratuitous scenes of Kelly in her underwear and bikini that occur on GH unlike when she was on Port Charles. It is beyond unnecessary and is definitely Guza.

I am with you on all the bloggers. All they talk about are pairings they want and love to be honest. I never see any constructive feedback about story telling or writing and that now includes the serial drama gals. They were and are just as infatuated with Jason/Liz and especially Patrick/Robin. I tire of hearing them fanwank over the same stuff all the time. The PPD story is an example. I thought the story was uneven and heavy handed but not bad but I thought the performances by Kimberly McCullough and Jason Thompson were subpar and I normally like them both. But I never did nor will I ever hear a word from them on that and I know a lot of my offline friends who watch who like Patrick and Robin hated her especially in the story and rather than feel compassion felt she was a total beyotch. But none of these bloggers have the guts to go against the online fanbase community for fear of losing support.

I say give GH some free reign with the people currently in charge for 6 months. If there motto now is to "stay the course" meaning they won't let fangurls and thier agendas alter their storytelling, I want to see where they are in 6 months. I dont think the show is perfect and good but there have been improvements and I say let their plan play out and see where things are at. Can it be worse than the last 2 years?

That just made me think of those old P&G viewer feedback lines that GL and ATWT had during the late 90s, around 97-98.

They used to go:

"Tell us what you think. Call our viewer feedback line." Anyone else remember those? I think all the soaps should have that and listen to what the fans say.

    • I'm anticipating most of the cast at the Nice location for a few weeks a la the Tuscan villa for Victoria and Ashland's wedding. I don't know why they bother. I'd rather see the money going into more regular home/office sets. This party has been a bust. No secrets revealed, break ups  etc. Ugly decorations and I'm going to slam the costuming again. Just the guests heaping praise on  Nikki  like she's achieved some magnificent milestone rather than just getting a year older.

In the loving arms of his wife, Dr. Marlena Evans, John took his last breath at the end of the June 2 episode, after suffering devastating internal injuries during a lab explosion. The iconic character went out as he lived — a hero. Sensing the fans’ devastation on Monday, Marlena’s portrayer Deidre Hall posted this simple-but-powerful message to fans on Instagram: “I know. I know. Hardest day ever.”

    • Now coming into June...well...   I knew it was coming but I didn't like the start to the next round of Dani/Bill/Hayley. As the 3 A plots from the start of the show (The SilkPress storyline and Martin's Secret being the other two), it needed to be benched for a while to develop those characters and allow other characters and storylines to grow. 3 months in, Hayley is the weak link, Dani is still divisive, but not boring, and Bill has been making his mark with some plots faster than others. So last week seeing the story starting to loop back around to them with Hayley's potential pregnancy, I honestly had mixed feelings.   I get it. The SilkPress storyline is currently in aftermath/next turn mode, so it has to be moved into a C plot position. Moreso if we want to keep the very talented Miss Trish around. And I love how clever the writers are being with the storyline. They give us enough in the episodes and are still playing out beats to keep the appetite fed. I don't feel like anyone is being dumbed down to keep her around. And Trish is giving nuances in her alone scenes with NuTed. I shouldn't care for a clear psycho, but she be selling it. That said...I wish they had given us a little more of the Martin's Secret storyline in the last week of the month though I loved the game of cat and mouse Bill did on Martin and Smitty to keep the storyline alive and active after it had a nice build beginning of May and vanished for a week mid-May. And it appears like it's about to go back to the backburner as an A plot which of course leaves the A plot of Dani/Bill/Hayley.   I am probably in the minority as someone who is not anti-Dani here and even she annoyed the heck out of me last week. In character true, but I just felt like there was a way to get all of that across without it feeling like...as I've said before...one step forward, two steps back...and have it feel organic. I liked Hayley got a little bit of edge with her, but she still ain't no match for Dani. And it reminds to be seen if we should be going back to that well of a story yet.   Now about today's show...   And I thought Tracy was bad! lol. But YES. Sharon has been worth the wait. And so has Anita's story! Finally having TT in the limelight. This has been a nice slow burn for me and a nice B plot. And the actress is good. The wig is giving. And her holding what Anita's secret is over her head and threatening to tell Vernon....Ooooo...that is what I was waiting for.    And speaking of bad...I thought Eva vs Kat was a great rivalry. But I am loving the rivalry that is growing with 'Nancy Drew' and Silk Press Sheila! They both get good licks in and are so cunning with each other. And I definitely have liked that since the anniversary party, that it has been growing. Now that Kat has been proven right, she has not backed down. And neither has SilkPress. And we got a 'Ms. B@tch' moment, too? LOVE. Eva coming up with a trump card was delicious and so 90s Sami Brady. GOOD. And the coda with Jacob and the expert...YES. The Silk Press storyline has been the best paced on the show so I love that the aftermath of the anniversary party continues to be so...barring one flaw...well for me. Not enough Nicole's POV.   And I like the C plots on display. And by that, I mean Chelsea with Vernon. And it made me wonder what the writers have plan for her love life now that the throuple is over with. I was watching her and going awww.   And of course the mystery man around Martin. I am starting to wonder if he really even works at the country club given how he made a run for it. That would be a twist.    Speaking of Martin...good to see him in scenes with his father and mother.    I'm getting used to NuTed.    I felt the last episode of May was a bit of a letdown, but this was a very nice recovery.
    • Unless they cut him, I'd think he would stay. Surely, he didn't choose to return because he expected high quality. I figure he gets to work when he wants and spend a lot of time doing his own thing and being with his family.
    • The writing for Liz and Lucky is indeed terrible, but if JJ signed a one-year contract he may be gone in a couple of months anyway. Perhaps they’re just cutting their losses.
    • That would be his older sister Stacey. She was the center of a big story back in the day. Nola was out to snag medical student Kelly Nelson, who she thought would provide her with the life she craved. He was in love with a girl named Morgan. Nola plotted to get pregnant by him, but couldn't manage to get him in bed. So she seduced Floyd, who thought she was in love with him. When she knew she was pregnant, she got Kelly drunk and made sure he woke up next to her in bed. Kelly believed her when she told him he made her pregnant. They were about to elope to Las Vegas, but her mother ratted her out and Kelly abandoned her. She almost married Floyd, but jilted him at the altar. She went to work for Quint. When the baby came prematurely, Kelly saved both of them. She named the baby Kelly Louise to irk Morgan, who was now married to Kelly. When she fell in love with Quint, she had a change of heart over all the trouble she had caused, so she changed the baby's name to Anastasia Louise, shortened to Stacey. Quint was a devoted stepfather and Henry treated her like his own granddaughter.  After Quint and Nola leave SF, I believe Stacey is never seen again. Which is odd, you would think they would have brought her back with Nola and J, but they never did.
