If they were smart they would call in a bunch of dermatologists to the studio (daytimefan, are you listening?) They could have a big chemical peel/botox/restylane extravaganza for all the actors.

They are gonna need it with that murky lighting and hd combo.

Hi-def is always better. Im surprised that after all these years Y&R is still the only soap broadcast in it. It looks so great when Im home to watch it than the SD feed. I hope more soaps follow

I. Love. HD. It's amazing. I literally sit in awe of Young and the Restless and remember the days of recording soaps off of fuzzy rabbit ears while I was in school. Congrats GH, I just hope you re-decorate some key sets before you do this.

I mean, you can still see vestiges of the rabbit ears if you look at older Youtube stuff. Bad signals and VHS tapes... stubby little screens with the sides cut off :-).

Soaps look so cheap on an HD TV (Y&R excepted). So I'm hoping this will usher in a visually beautiful new era for the surviving shows.

GH's sets need some major touch-ups, a complete overhaul wouldn't hurt either come to think of it. They also need to fix their lighting before going HD.

Good lighting can make the crappiest set look passable.

LOL, they do need to flick the dimmer switch up a touch. And throw out the flourescent bulbs which makes everybody look like they have yellow fever.

There’s RUMBLINGS this week of an updated opening to the show to coincide with the presentation of the new hospital set. (Fingers crossed, we have heard one this before.) This time, however, we have some pretty descriptive RUMBLINGS to give us hints about the new look and feel.

If it’s true, we will no longer see the ending sequence (that I never could quite figure out anyway) with all the men in black tie, then Tony Geary walking off at the very end. The new version is described as a very rough cut, and could be changed or overhauled completely, if it even happens. The version I have heard about describes what COULD include a group shot of Patrick, Robin and baby Emma (HOW COOL!), Jax and Carly are together, Sonny is shown then Claudia, Lucky is with Elizabeth, Nikolas with Rebecca. The Quartermaines are all shown together in a group shot, then individually, Sam I believe is described as following Jason. According to the source, changes to the opening can be costly, and difficult to do. Therefore, we will just have to wait and see if it actually is produced at this time or not.

There are so many disclaimers in here it's just HYSTERICAL. It screams of wishful thinking.

First of all, I have so many doubts that BABY EMMA would make it into the opening. They change babies so rapidly, are we using the fat Asian baby, the more recent baby? How would the opening stay current?!

Group shots are worse because when ONE actor leaves, everything needs to be reshot. ALL the Quartermaines together in the opening? ALL THREE OF THEM?! The pairings swap up so much, will it be accurate to see Jax and Carly together a year from now, or Lucky and Elizabeth?

Whatever. Probably won't happen anyway.
