December 21, 200817 yr Member Perfect solution to end ABC's "boys club!" Fire Chuck Pratt and Ron Carlivati and bring back Dena Higley and Megan McTavish! The perfect solution would be to fired Frons and work down from there
December 21, 200817 yr Author Member Daytime Confidential CONFIRMED they were talking about AMC. http://daytimeconfidential.com/2008/12/bre...all-my-children BREAKING NEWS: Executive Producer Shake-Up at All My Children?Submitted by Jamey Giddens on December 21, 2008 - 3:00pm. We're hearing from several sources that Lisa de Cazotte (and yes it is with an "S") is thisclose to coming to All My Children as an executive producer. Whether or not the former Passions and General Hospital: Night Shift show runner will be second-in-command to current executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers, or if she will be taking over the show completely is unknown as of yet. We're hoping for the latter. I know a lot of people feel AMC has improved in recent months, and while I am enjoying the revitalization of Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) and the Reese/Bianca (Tamara Braun and Eden Riegel) romance, I find the rest of the show very Helter Skelter, almost to the point of being unwatchable. After the stellar job de Cazotte did with the second season of Night Shift, I would love to see her make some sense out of what is taking place in Pine Valley. Insiders say Agnes Nixon's crown jewel almost didn't get renewed during this past round of negotiations with the network and that is just all shades of wrong. All My Children, unlike other soaps on cancellation watch, could be fixed with relative ease. They already have industry vetted writers (Desperate Housewives' Chuck Pratt, Coronation Street's Daran Little) in place and a stellar cast, so maybe it is time they trim from the top to prevent this still viable sudser from going the way of Guiding Light or Days of Our Lives? More as the story develops.

December 21, 200817 yr Member What the hell is this garbage about "the show almost didn't get renewed during the last round of negotiations with the network?" Um - unless ABC is negotiating with themselves, there are no negotiations. They cancel the show whenever the hell they want to.
December 22, 200817 yr Author Member ^Yeah, unless they meant ABC was on the fence about renewing the show, but relented at the last minute. Anyway, Lisa de Cazotte is an executor. She knows how to execute the vision of her HW very thoroughly. She proved this on Passions and again on GH: Night Shift. Maybe she can help execute Pratt's plans in a more efficient manner. I wonder if Pratt and Carruthers get along, could it be he suggested a EP replacement at AMC to Frons? I don't see how this is going to be any big change, but you never know. Maybe Frons sees something in de Cazotte that he likes. Honestly, I don't think it will impact the show all that much, maybe the execution of the material will be better though.

You're right, something doesn't gel with this news...ABC doesn't 'renew' their soaps. The only thing they'd renew would be a contract regarding the studio space and in the case of AMC that's not an issue since it, like OLTL, is taped at the ABC Broadcast Center in New York. I do hope it's Carruther's that's getting fired and replaced by LDC, she's a very capable EP who has a 'vision'...something that I feel JHC does not.
December 22, 200817 yr Author Member Didn't rain1 say a few months ago that Julie's contract with AMC would be up in late 2008/early 2009? I guess it was obvious in hindsight that this news was probably about her getting fired. However, nothing is finalized, so you never know.
December 22, 200817 yr Member While I don't like to see anyone lose his or her job, especially in this economic climate, it's time for a change at AMC. JHC has brought nothing to the show. Under her reign we got an unabortion and the murder by pancakes of one of the most beloved characters in the show's history (Dixie). Enough is enough. It's time to take the trash out. ETA: I know that these were McTavish's stories. But I don't think any of us believe that these would have come to fruition if Behr or James were at the helm. Edited December 22, 200817 yr by Jonathan

December 22, 200817 yr Member I also hope its true about Julie Carruthers getting the boot and being replaced. AMC needs more change and a better show runner that's for sure. AMC needs a better vision. So I hope the news is true.
December 22, 200817 yr Member Actually Julie and Chuck get along very well. They used to work on Santa Barbara together. The thing is the executive producer before Julie Carruthers which was Jean Dadario Burke was even worse. She was known as a very weak executive producer with absolutely no vision whatsoever. Julie is a bit better but not really a huge visionary. She is not Wendy Riche I will tell you that. AMC had to do all these big cuts but OLTL had no cuts. In fact Farah Fath said on Michael Fairman's website that OLTL has no cuts because they are under budget. Frank Valentini has kept the budget in check bigtime and the show does look very good considering their budget is small. OLTL did not have any cuts at all. It has done better then AMC all year and cheaper to produce.

December 22, 200817 yr Member Yeah OLTL didn't do a tornado, so I can see why they'd be under budget compared to AMC or even GH What the hell is this garbage about "the show almost didn't get renewed during the last round of negotiations with the network?" Um - unless ABC is negotiating with themselves, there are no negotiations. They cancel the show whenever the hell they want to. I was wondering the same thing, makes this bit of info seem more unreliable IMO

December 22, 200817 yr Member If JHC is GONE I will be SOOOO HAPPY! Lisa was a producer on AMC from 1994-1996 during the Behr and James era.
