Problem is, most of what Sanders promised was not going to be accomplished even if he became President. He did the same thing as Trump, which was making guarantees without plans to back them up. Free tuition and everything else sounds great, but nigh impossible to accomplish.

That aside, Sanders bought a nice house some months after the primary, which I felt was interesting. I can't not believe that some of that huge campaign account didn't end up in his personal account.

I didn't like the idea of free college either or a $15 minimum wage either. Both ideas were part of the reason I didn't vote for Bernie.

I'm all for reducing student loan debt but IMO we still haven't figured out free K-12 education. Curriculum issues aside we have crumbling buildings and packed classrooms and we're still doing summers off like we're an agrarian society. But we can't do year-round school because...see crumbling buildings with no air conditioning. As for the minimum wage, I think it should vary depending on the cost of living in your state. $12 in Ohio will probably go further than $15 in NYC for example.

So much of what turned me off of Bernie was his penchant for sweeping statements and simple plans. What I LOVED about Hillary was the amount and thought and detail she put into her plans. Plans for things no one else cared about: mental illness, shoring up HBCUs, job training for coal miners to move into green jobs, etc...

So far, it is being claimed that Trump will eliminate the National Endowment for the Arts and the Department of Justice's 25 Violence Against Women grant programs.

Now news that this student loan collector, Navient, cheated millions of borrowers.

The Consumer Protection Bureau, which Republicans have been trying to eliminate, were the ones who alerted the DOJ about Navient.

But oh, well, Trump/GOP will eliminate grant money for anti-violence against women initiatives, arts funding and protections for consumers but he's going to make America great again and it will magically be fabulous!

My takeaway from this article is that Democrats are bursting with ideas for how to stage their brilliant comeback, but lack the central figure and/or issue for the so-called troops to rally around.  And that's what we need to do as a party these next few years: narrow in on what it is we can provide message-wise to those who think the Democrats have lost touch with the middle and working classes but who aren't ready to abandom them for good; and spread the word nationally about politicians at the local and state levels who, with proper grooming and such, can become the new faces and voices of the Democratic party.

Yeah, for that matter, neither is attacking Meryl Streep or bringing SpellCheck to its knees.

What can I say?  John Fugelsang is lousy at political humor.

    • I'm not going to watch (because...well...that M-dude...lol) but knowing the history between Henry and Roger, I could see Henry wanting to enable Hart to stay independent of Roger. I could even see it as Henry having the last laugh at Roger. Roger hated "the Henry's" of the world, which basically meant anyone who had money and social prominence. Twice Roger swindled Henry out of a chunk of his fortune, so giving some to Hart, who hates his father, is a form of karma.
    • Ashley and Derek have to go- they really throw off the pace of the show.  Today was the first time I fast-forwarded through their scenes. The writing and acting is just bad for both characters.
    • Jon is stuck in a story that isn't popular but with Cady I feel like the issue is that she was clearly thrown in with no real purpose. I still don't understand why she pops up. I recall early on it being said she owned a spa but we've never seen it. That could've been an interesting location for people to meet. She also could've worked better as Smitty's mom, but instead we get this random agent of Dani's who pops up twice a month? A total waste. I mostly agree. I do feel like Jan could be elevated with a name soap actress, someone like Judi Evans or Kassie DePaiva comes to mind, but they're limited to who is in Atlanta. Keeping that in mind I think the current actress is fine.
    • It's great to see. My thoughts might be a little different, but for the most part, I am excited and interested in most of the storylines. Yeah, you're right. This is probably how she (Dani) normally acts. And, I do not like it!  I agree; this is another distraction while she heals her wounds. If I weren't an Eva fan, she helped me root for her even more. As I said a month ago, I hope they take their time with her modeling agency. I would love to see her face a few obstacles before becoming a huge success.
    • I like that there are a lot of local performers on this soap and I'm glad they've resisted so far on hiring too many soap performers.   Cady has been awkward on the show thus far and Jon seems to have polarizing as well. I say focus on the local talent and giving those people a job and exposure.. and leave the P & G soap opera performers in the past.
    • Who do you think would be good for the show among the ATWT/GL cast?

about it I think Jan is a fine supporting part for a solid daytime vet (probably someone from the P&G soaps), as opposed to someone from the production location who is clearly cheaper. Which seems to govern some casting. I get the rationale, but I would start going through the ATWT/GL, etc. rolodex myself.
