Members ReddFoxx
Problem is, most of what Sanders promised was not going to be accomplished even if he became President. He did the same thing as Trump, which was making guarantees without plans to back them up. Free tuition and everything else sounds great, but nigh impossible to accomplish. That aside, Sanders bought a nice house some months after the primary, which I felt was interesting. I can't not believe that some of that huge campaign account didn't end up in his personal account.
Members marceline
I didn't like the idea of free college either or a $15 minimum wage either. Both ideas were part of the reason I didn't vote for Bernie. I'm all for reducing student loan debt but IMO we still haven't figured out free K-12 education. Curriculum issues aside we have crumbling buildings and packed classrooms and we're still doing summers off like we're an agrarian society. But we can't do year-round school because...see crumbling buildings with no air conditioning. As for the minimum wage, I think it should vary depending on the cost of living in your state. $12 in Ohio will probably go further than $15 in NYC for example. So much of what turned me off of Bernie was his penchant for sweeping statements and simple plans. What I LOVED about Hillary was the amount and thought and detail she put into her plans. Plans for things no one else cared about: mental illness, shoring up HBCUs, job training for coal miners to move into green jobs, etc... Members DramatistDreamer
So far, it is being claimed that Trump will eliminate the National Endowment for the Arts and the Department of Justice's 25 Violence Against Women grant programs. Now news that this student loan collector, Navient, cheated millions of borrowers. The Consumer Protection Bureau, which Republicans have been trying to eliminate, were the ones who alerted the DOJ about Navient. But oh, well, Trump/GOP will eliminate grant money for anti-violence against women initiatives, arts funding and protections for consumers but he's going to make America great again and it will magically be fabulous! Members marceline
This is just the beginning. They are going to lay waste to everything decent that has happened in the country for the last 50 years.

Members Khan
As Al Franken would say, "Oh my Lord!" (God, this IS turning into a segment of "The Al Franken Decade," isn't it?)
Members DRW50
Why in the world is SNL being put on the same list as those? No wonder people don't take a lot of the Hollywood left seriously. Vacuous celebrities run amok.

Members DRW50
Talking [!@#$%^&*] about a TV show isn't on the same level as any of the rest. It just seems oddly glib, as a lot of the Trump criticism of that kind does.
Members Khan
My takeaway from this article is that Democrats are bursting with ideas for how to stage their brilliant comeback, but lack the central figure and/or issue for the so-called troops to rally around. And that's what we need to do as a party these next few years: narrow in on what it is we can provide message-wise to those who think the Democrats have lost touch with the middle and working classes but who aren't ready to abandom them for good; and spread the word nationally about politicians at the local and state levels who, with proper grooming and such, can become the new faces and voices of the Democratic party. Yeah, for that matter, neither is attacking Meryl Streep or bringing SpellCheck to its knees. What can I say? John Fugelsang is lousy at political humor.
