Colorado’s Secretary of State’s office has completed the mandatory recount of the election results between Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert and Democrat Adam Frisch in the 3rd congressional district.
State law requires automatic recounts when a race is within 0.5 percent of the total votes cast for the winner of the race, and as expected, the recount did not change the election results.

Boebert still won.

Boebert lost three votes and Frisch picked up one. The final difference between the two was 546 votes.

“While we hoped for a different outcome, we defied incredible odds with the closeness of this race and delivered a moral victory for the people of CO-3, many of whom crossed party lines to reject extremism with their vote,” Frisch said in a statement Monday.

The Trump-like Brazilian politician Jair Bolsonaro, a rightwing nut job who was destroying the Amazon, has been President of Brazil.  He ran for reelection as president and lost.

His extreme right-wing supporters tried to storm the federal police headquarters in the country’s capital Brasilia, in what one commentator called a botched attempt to spark a January 6-style turmoil.

OMG. I heart Cyndi. If my memory serves me correct, True Colors had a different message connotation back when it was released as a single in the 80's. I don't listen to much Top 40 music stuff, but I was at a friend's house back in the day and was absolutely shocked at her vocal cords because she can preach the word of gospel and take all yo' sad asses to church. You know what I'm sayin'? That's right. Directly. To. Church. Yep. Get those coins and dollar bills up in that offering plate before entering the front doors.

Like I said, I don't listen to Top 40, but I will give recognition where recognition is deserved. Cause I was like, "Dayum, gurl." And I don't compliment often. In fact, rarely.

Kodak used True Colors in tv ads (late 80s and early 90s) and it was not about the LGBT+ community specifically you could take it to mean what you wanted, as obviously Kodak didn’t use it in that way. Eventually  Cyndi spoke about LGBT issues and became an advocate with a foundation named after the song. I hope what happened makes things better, but certain states need to get old laws off the books just in case.

Ahhhhh! thank u for that! Since you mentioned Kodak, my memory started to resurface. I don't remember much about the 80's besides Reagan and his "2-hour sermons", and all I wanted to do was watch Wonder Woman. Or Punky Brewster. No, wait! Silver Spoons. Where I lived, we had sh*tty antennae reception, so I barely remember anything in that era. But Wonder Woman

Cape = FIERCE

Scuba Gear = Hard pass.

Ultimately all the individual U.S. states need to fix their marriage laws and get rid of the bigoted ones.

In the meantime, we have the federal law just enacted.

Biden just signed into law the "Respect for Marriage Act".
Here is an explainer of what that Act does and does not do:

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/respect-marriage-act-same-sex-interracial-couples/story?id=95181737

It does NOT require individual states to perform same-sex marriages in the future.
But it does do this:
Any same-sex or interracial marriage performed in any individual state (past and future), is and will be FEDERALLY legal in all states, even if other individual states don't approve it, and going forward, the couples cannot be denied the civil benefits of their unions in any state - even if court precedents were to be overruled.

This law was passe by the House and Senate - basically to prevent the Supreme Court from overturning the previous rulings allowing gay marriage and interracial marriage.

RFMA (Respect For Marriage Act) also offers explicit protections for religious groups with moral objections to same-sex or interracial marriages: They are not required to provide goods or services to the marriages they object to and their tax-exempt status cannot be rescinded for refusing to perform or respect a marriage.

Sadly, this religious exemption was a "compromise"
(or cop-out) that they had to use - because it was the only way the House and Senate would approve the bill.  Otherwise it would not have passed.

(I think I summed it up correctly?  Anyone/everyone please read the article and correct/clarify if I missed anything.)

And see? Tha's what I'm talkin' about too with this interracial stuff. More kids are being born biracial more than anything. Our society doesn't care about it in my opinion. I still cannot wrap my head around it. If two people find love, then great, you know?

ETA: That wasn't necessary. Again.

    • In the 1987 episodes, Mary has wonderful conversations with MJ and Cheryl. This is a realistic family with believable dynamics. Mary's ambivalence towards Vince is played nicely. Denise Alexander is so good here. I don't know what happened that the writers or producers just decided to chuck it all away. I don't FF these scenes. The show had a strong family that could have had years of storyline and they did nothing with them. I really don't get it.
    • I can't speak for Sonni, but I thought Annie came off as neurotic from very early on. That's just how Cynthia Watros plays her parts, and the writing went along. I don't think Claire was mentally ill - they claimed she had a brain tumor, didn't they? I am never sure just why they made the effort given that she was leaving anyway.
    • @DeeVee Claire is a perfect example. So many women came to Springfield as competent, smart, and talented professionals. Then they’d attract a so-called “good guy,” get dumped, and spiral into complete chaos. What always strikes me is how clearly it plays like a male fantasy—yet it was written and sold to a female audience.  I'm not a content expert, but I don't think cis gendered women fantasize about losing control of their mental faculties in response to an orgasm. Similar to Holly's story, it seems repulsive, because I don't believe women fantasize about becoming more vulnerable and appealing to men after they've been assaulted.
    • I just watched some parts of an episode of GL where Roger has just been shot by Holly. Rita then admits to Hillary that Roger raped her. Kasdorf is such a fantastic actress. I wish there were more of her work available.
    • -- Alex Alegria has almost a full sleeve tattoo on one arm and a large tatt on one pec. I see no indication that the show is covering up his ink,
    • Didn't Carrie2 even seduce a minor? Ick. Oh, yeah, and she even tried to seduce Alan, but this was his post-prison era when he was trying to prove to everyone he had changed. It's funny that of all people he didn't go for it. Wait. Josh had an affair with Vanessa? Or she just thought he did? I know people always say "it's just a soap" but the way mental illness is portrayed on soaps (and that goes for pretty much all of them) has always been not great, especially PPD. They practically turned Claire into The Joker. She also was trying to seduce men. (I notice that now Mary Ryan Munisteri is listed as co HW with Ryder in the 1986 episodes, Claire has calmed down a lot. Never thought her GL career was very good but seems like she tried to course correct that a bit).
    • sss Ms. Tunie is a goddess. I feel all the anger, pride, sadness, arrogance, dignity, fear, love, and other emotions in everything she does as Anita.
    • You're right. People like me who stuck with her, did so because of her history. The show just skated her along with no story,  no goal, no aim. Right again! This is who I forgot before. When you describe her, it makes me appreciate her more. Thinking back I loved Mandy.
    • Maybe Guza is becoming Y&R Head writer and Jilly will be named EP! Remember CBS installed Latham as consultant and later Mal Young, both of whom took over the show. Of course, they each got credit during the consulting days.
