I  was 100% in the same place until I realized Cheney is no better. But hopefully others on the panel will be more likely to do something - more than the DOJ is, anyway. We'll see.

I just don't see a reason to take that dude on his word about anything, let alone the inner working of DOJ. Especially when the committee just officially denied it.

You often  hear Beltway talking  points about how the GOP no longer cares about gay rights or lgbt rights, and what a sign of progress this is. That's a lie, This is  today's GOP, and it wins  elections,  because many people live and breathe hate. At least this repulsive man is honest, unlike his party,  and the reporters who lick their feet.

 

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the 1/6 committee's endgame is. They keep saying they don't want anything like that to ever happen again. But they don't really say anything about accountability, or prison. I don't know what to believe.

The 5th circuit has reinstated the Texas abortion ban. Surprise, surprise. NOT. The 5th circuit is the GQP on steroids.

Of note in that ruling, the DOJ has until Tuesday to respond to that court. So I guess it is a temporary stay, but I do not hold out much hope. Unless the "Supreme" Court stops the shadow docket BS and take some sort of position.

Which is probably why they will hear a similar case in Mississippi this December.

I know you're right. I just have the image of the TX governor's smug face in my mind. They're hypocrites, too, because you know they would make an exception in about four seconds if they had a daughter or granddaughter who was in a "delicate" situation.
