Looks like, barring provisional or absentee votes changing anything, the Republicans have won the special Congressional election in Ohio. Of course it is a very Republican district, it has had all Republicans (bar about 2 years in the early '80s) since the '30s, and a very narrow win is not much, but I feel like the "close but no cigar" narrative (with help from the Greens, naturally) is likely telling us what Democrats will do in November. Always close but never enough, unless you want to play the "clap louder," game, which I don't feel like doing.

Still, in a very Republican district, having such narrow percentages between the two candidates with provisional ballots still being counted is not a good look for the GOP.

At least there has been some acknowledgment by Ocasio-Cortez that Davids won the primary and deserves the support going forward.  Bernie should've immediately done the same when he lost his primary.

I like Ocasio-Cortez but either she's let her victory goto her head or she's extremely naïve. I don't understand why she's running around all over the country with Sanders. I have no idea why they weren't backing Sharice Davids to begin with or why Ocasio even got involved. Sanders didn't even endorse Ocasio in her own primary.

Plus the GOP had to pour millions of dollars into defending what should've been a sure thing.

 

Half the reason Tiberi quit was because he wasn't concerned about the GOP losing the seat.

A huge ICE raid happened in Nebraska.  133 people were taken and several people were arrested for a range of crimes involving exploiting immigrants.  At the very least, we need a guest worker program so that employers can't take advantage of people.
