Polls don't matter anymore. People are actually voting now. Let me repeat:

POLLS DON'T MATTER ANYMORE. PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY VOTING NOW.

Georgia is seeing record breaking turnout. Why would you focus on a poll which is just a few hundred people instead of looking at what's actually happening on the ground?

This is going to sound harsh and I promise that it's not directed at you personally...

A lot of folks have got to deal with their 2016 PTSD. My social media is filled with  hypervigilance, catastrophizing, and paranoia which the algorithms just keep feeding.

It's not like we haven't had any elections since then. Republicans have been losing for years.

This is how I feel.

I don't think we'd be human if it wasn't somewhat nervewracking for many of us. They're close numbers materially and the stakes are (once again) higher than they've ever been. But all Republicans have done since '16 is continue to lose elections. I have yet to see evidence that is changing, and we're still up where we need to be in a lot of the polling (which, as you say, has ceased to matter). Still, I do have some anxiety any time we get this close.

I'll feel better on the night once I start to have my own suspicions borne out of course, just as they were overnight in 2020 (though it took a few hours) or in 2012.

Agreed, with all of this.

On the first day of early voting in North Carolina, my sister texted me a photo of her waiting in what appeared to be a long line. When I asked her how long she had to wait to vote, she said 45 minutes. She was insistent on waiting for her turn to cast her ballot because she felt she had to do all she could to help prevent ole what’s his name from ever getting in the White House again. It came as no surprise to me when I read that NC had record turnout for the first day of early voting. People are moving with intention. The time for handwringing about the polls has long since passed. Everyone needs to commit themselves to a plan to vote and follow through to make sure TFG gets to focus his time on his multiple court cases after Election Day.

For all the talk about Black men supposedly being lured into MAGA, there hasn’t been much in the way of letting actual Black men speak for themselves in mainstream media. Here is one perspective concerning Project 2025.

It's some of the early voting numbers that are concerning me (Virginia, NC, among others). Hopefully it's just going back to normal when so many Republicans didn't vote early in 2020, rather than a real sign of a shift to Trump that various polls have indicated.

An NYT article on the Arab-Americans who are pushing for Trump. One person in this who was co-head of the "Abandon Biden" group (later Harris) even has a selfie on her Twitter smiling with Trump. Just absolute scum.

Some reports that the door-knocking group funded by Elon is partly fradulent.

If people  showing up to vote in record breaking numbers favored Republicans, I doubt many would seemingly do all they can to suppress the numbers of of people able to cast their votes. JMO, the GOP tends to benefit from lower voter turnout in many districts.

Also, did anyone know that this was going on?

I know media only reports on the contentious labor issues but given the current election cycle we are currently in, so close to Election Day this seems important.

Trump's persona of saying whatever he wants and this being "funny" is serving him well now that he just rambles incoherently any time he is in public. Biden never did a tenth of this but if he said the wrong name or paused for a second, they were waiting to put him away.

I don't have any use for either of them but it's not the only polling that has people nostalgic for the Trump years and now apparently even the pandemic itself. Times are hard now, but I can't believe people are nostalgic for that period. I think Trump is just such a husk that people, with help from the media, make him whatever they want him to be and ignore what he actually was.

    • Wow, do I agree with you. Chelsea is coming off as ridiculous. All she does is look for a woman to date while not caring about her business at all. That she's bi is great, but they're not writing her like she's bi. She seems to be lesbian. Yeah, I know -- "no labels." I just don't find the writing for her story to be anything other than awkward.   -- I hope we get some diagnosis finality with Bill's trip to the hospital. I don't want to see these trips to the ER every other day. -- Naomi is going to blame herself for Bill's health problems? GMAB. -- Ashley doesn't read as a real nurse in the slightest. -- Another day, another rinse and repeat conversation with Derek and Ashley. YAWN. -- Kat is making mistakes, but she's fun to watch and listen to, regardless. -- I still think the Joey/Vanessa/Doug gambling story sucks. I know Doug is deeply in debt, but I don't like him acting this meek and submissive.  -- I'm not sure what Joey's plan was from the beginning, or why he had to seduce Vanessa at all to get his way. I'm not sure what Vanessa ever saw in Joey -- why doesn't he give her the ick? -- I'm fine with a story where Doug and Vanessa take out Joey.  -- The fades to commercials were pretty bad today.
    •   Victoria's house (that she long ago lived in with Billy) burned down (I think Aunt Jordan set ablaze?). Mariah and Tessa and baby Aria had been living in the tack house but they bought a house we've never seen and moved there. Victoria, Claire, and Cole now live in the tack house.
    • Victoria’s previous house burned down.    And I know why characters frequent Crimson Lights 3 times a day for brownies, muffins and empty mugs:   THERE’S PCP IN EVERYTHING.
    • Today was a good episode, and the week for that matter. I think they've also done a better job with background music. The scenes in todays episode weren't as silent as they usually are in the background and it was noticeable. I think the show has found its groove well and I'm still invested.
    • Garneau was in the Liberal party and his riding was in Montreal. He was the first Canadian in outer space.
    • I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it.  I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.
    • Did Jordan Clarke have a departure sometime between 1985 and 1989? I know Robert Newman had three runs: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end.
    • Well, they usually weren't on the show at the time for long until the late 90's. But yeah, they really deserved a story centered on them, and not through the lens of Reva.
    • Chelsea was doing the absolute most today! Why was she introducing her sister to a woman she doesnt know? That whole scene was embarrassing. Madison needs to stay away from her bc she is too immature
    • Gosh, what a waste with Lunacy. Why have her live with $B, reveal Finn, pardon her, etc What makes this story incredibly hollow is that what Luna is asking isn't unreasonable - to spend time with her cousin father. She's not asking to move in with them. How hard with it be for Finn to throw her a bone by, say, I'll meet you for lunch/coffee once at week at the hospital cafeteria. Lunacy isn't going to hurt Finn. In fact, all her crimes were related to finding her father and it turns out to be someone she's loved her entire life. Instead of course-correcting the nonsense of last summer, Brad somehow found a way to make this worse! That's a skill... Of all the younger actors B&B has cast during the past 5 years, LY has shown the most growth and range. Why get rid of her?
