I agree.  They want one thing and one thing only (besides attention): to watch the country burn.  And they'll keep moving the goalposts for the Democrats until that happens, too.

Meanwhile, CNN's Jake Tapper is wondering what happened to "When they go low, we go high."  Apparently, the same man whom Jill Biden had to shut down for bringing up her husband's "gaffes" while saying nothing about Trump's outright lies thinks Gov. Walz was being gross about his "couch joke" at JD Vance's expense.  (Seriously, the more Americans rally behind Harris and Walz, the harder it is for the media to contain their frustration, lol).

Another very candid interview with Pelosi (non-paywall) from the New Yorker.

I wish she'd waited a bit longer to talk about this and I still nurse pretty sore feelings about what happened and how Joe was treated, but it's become a very complicated situation and outcome to say the least, almost 3 weeks later. And we can't say Pelosi is not willing to do whatever is necessary to save the country from the right, including possibly burning a friendship of 40 years.

We shot it in the belly and left it in a lot in Vegas to die, Jake.

GOAL!!

But seriously.  We've tried taking the high road, but it just plain wasn't working.  If anything, it was hobbling the Democratic Party, making it appear weak and ineffectual to the rest of the country; and I'm sorry, but I think we got enough of that bullshit in the '80's with Walter Mondale and Michael Dukakis.

I saw Mary Katharine Ham, another right wing sycophant (and often on Tapper's show), braying the same thing on Twitter (the hack who wrote a book whining about the left not being able to take a joke). It's pathetic. Some Democrats still get so skittish about even the word "weird" being used and talk about how centrist or right leaning voters will get upset. When you live in a world of wealth and connections, as they do, this is where you end up. Meanwhile, Trump can go around talking saying the vilest things and everyone is just meant to shrug and laugh.

The Beltway will moan but get over it - they're complicit anyway, despite the occasional clucking like this, they enjoy tearing strips off Vance and the couch jokes as much as the rest of us. The days of two sets of decorum rules for Democrats and Republicans need to end. Winning is the only calculus that matters now.

The"Uncommited" interviewed.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/aug/08/harris-walz-uncommited-voters-israel-gaza

I know there is a tendency on this board to label them as "dead-end left", but they aren't all like that. Sure some are, but not all.

The more reasonable of them recognize there is no hope for *anyone* if Tr*mp is elected.

I think their comments in this interview are worth reading.  I'm glad Harris met with them to listen, even if she didn't agree with everything they wanted.

"...but it's a transgender world when the whistle blows

No one owns a piece of my time

And there's a transgender me inside my clothes

Thinking that the world looks fine, yeah..."
