Thanks for all the tweets @Vee . Those Vance clips are genuinely hilarious, even if I know nothing about this is a laughing matter.

2008 and the Jay Z flap did come to mind when I saw all the reaction to the twerking at the Atlanta rally, with "Hoes for Harris" already trending. I guess this will just give the old white people who were voting for Trump another reason to do but hopefully won't affect anything else.

Her first choice of city post-VP announcement is leading many to assume Shapiro will be the choice. I hope not.

I think concern over Shapiro is heavily overstated. The splinter of young leftists who will peel off were going to find another excuse. I don't believe we'd lose anyone else. But I'm not convinced it's him anyway.

Well, no, I was referring to the current hype and momentum being similar to 2008. Not a negative angle.

Meanwhile:

Oh I know but it reminded me of some of the other 2008 similarities.

Unfortunately, Israel isn't the only concern going around about Shapiro.

I could see them being torn between him and Kelly. Not sure what the final pick will be of those two (and Walz with an outside chance too).

I agree.  They're just posturing for the sake of posturing.  In the end, they either will vote third party or (more likely) sit it out.

On a related note: good ol' reliable Nina Turner is warning Kamala Harris that she will lose progressives if she picks Josh Shapiro for her VP.  This, of course, begs the question: who da fuq even LISTENS to Nina Turner anymore?

I would urge everyone to check the Media thread, where I have begun putting up a ton of Trump's disastrous appearance at NABJ (it probably should be crossposted, but I am running to the gym soon). It will be very bad for him. It's another gift to us.

Years ago, there was that meme of clips featuring Harris, who was still a Senator, launching her Presidential campaign set to Megan Thee Stallion’s song “Savage”. It was very clever, I might have even posted it in this thread. I am fairly certain that both women saw that meme.

It seems like the whole clown car is in on this. His rally is blaring an AP headline about Harris being the first Indian-American senator. These are deeply cynical attacks that have been around for years but sadly I think they are effective with a lot of stupid people.

I think they were around even before this loser but a starting point:

He wasn't even doing that weird shouting of his. He must be upset.

I think what irks me about the "controversy" surrounding Kamala Harris' ethnicity is the perception from many that she can't be African-American AND Indian-American, too; that she needs to "pick a side," as it were.

I, myself, happen to be African-American and Muscogee (or Creek) Nation Indian on my mother's side, and Indian and Chinese on my father's.  My father immigrated to the U.S. in 1972, after spending much of his life in his native Georgetown, British Guyana; while my mother was born and raised in small town Oklahoma, with most of her relatives (both biological and adoptive) still in the area.

Most of the time, I self-identify as African-American, because that is the part of my heritage with which I am most familiar; but in fact, I am proud of my entire heritage and ALL my ancestors, on BOTH sides, and I would never deny either side for any reason; and I resent the implication from Black AND White people that I can't embrace both.

I really liked the Harris campaign response highlighting the chaos and division that Trump causes.  It is refreshing that the campaign is no longer going with the “they go low, we go high” route. Instead, they are really leaning into the anxiety that American voters felt around January 6th, and a desire for stability.  It seems much more dignified to focus on the cultural impact of Trump's brand of division, than trying to defend why it is wrong.  It assumes that any logical person would be appalled by his treatment of Black women.  But it also broadens the issue to show how it makes everyone feel uneasy and afraid of what he'll do next.

    • Teach me to post cocky about all these rampant relations! As for the cut, it just made Leo Howard look more stunningly handsome. There are guys I think are hotter, but he's got the prettiest face hands down.
    • Yes Arianna and Sami are blood related through Sami and Theresa. They are also adoptive/honorary related because Arianna's third.parent is Sonny, which makes Arianna and Tate related through Justin and Isabella.
    • I saw more about Biden Old or the staged feud between Elon and Trump or just the usual distractions, but I will admit I don't stomach most of the news anyway.
    • Figured it was something like that. It's just feels weird that Will came back to see John but he's not gonna be at his funeral but

They are blood related. Through Sami and Theresa. I didn't notice it last week, but it looked so fresh today. Like he got cut minutes before they started filming or something lol
    • Bill convinced the Governor to pardon Luna. Steffy was too busy badmouthing Hope & Brooke for most of the Spring to concern herself with such trivial matters.
    • There hasn't been a media blackout, there's been live coverage on national news all weekend.
    • There's been something of a media blackout, but beyond that the only reason it's getting any attention is because Trump and the Republicans and their sycophants in the press are trying to create riots to pave the way for martial law.  And of course all the people who care more about setting fires and destroying property than anything else are happy to help them.  I've seen more interest in people arguing about whether or not they should be waving Mexican flags and how American flags are tainted than I have in the cause, which just reinforces what a malaise we are in. Many who claim to care about immigration only care to the tips of their fingers, just like Palestine and the rest. But these policies what people voted for. As long as they personally aren't affected, they are eating all this decimation up.
    • I was happy to see Caroline again even in one short scene. This was her first appearance since April 3. I was wondering why we haven't seen her, since Hayley desperately needs a talk-to aside from Bill.  I am also wondering where Jacob's partner is. Does Marcel have an opinion on Jacob spending so much time on the Laura case? Especially since Marcel warned Jacob about allowing his family to get in the way of police business. I liked seeing some vulnerability from Leslie today when she begged Eva to give her the helmet and gloves back. I'm still wondering how she will get out of the corner she has been written into. When we were first introduced to Leslie, she seemed like she might be a Machiavelli but since then it's clear that she more of a haphazard villainess doesn't seem to have a long term plan aside from causing random chaos.  Chelsea's desperation is cringeworthy but I actually think it's fairly realistic for someone who is closeted or newly out.
