Geez, Vlad, it's almost as if you're ADMITTING to something!

Aside from the fact many who run the media lean right, why DOES the media hate Democrats so darn much?  Because, I, too, sense that the NYT doesn't want this impeachment to happen.  (I don't want it to happen either, but my reasons are far, far different than theirs.)

And the hits just Keep. On. Coming.

Many of them are deeply entrenched in old Beltway thinking, which leans towards worship of Reagan and center-right bipartisanship (Dean Baquet, etc).

For the later generations there's also deep self-consciousness about being seen as 'elites' and not feeling masculine/genuine enough - hence, they hew towards conservative framing of the center-right being more 'true American' and Democrats being 'wimps.' They don't want to be wimps or be seen as not genuine, so they first unconsciously and then increasingly consciously adopt GOP framing of issues and disdain Democrats and liberals and their ideas. That's why everybody asks Democrats 'how you gonna pay for it??' and never the GOP - because in a lot of media's minds, the right is the 'fiscally responsible' party and Dems are just dreamy wusses. Many of them don't fully realize they're doing it.

The biggest issue behind what the NYT is doing though is that it's at war with itself and deeply cognitively dissonant. It wants laurels and applause for reporting on Trump and being the proud journalistic 'resistance' - and they do have good writers doing good stories - while simultaneously desperately still trying to curry favor with conservative readers and prove they are 'bipartisan' and 'not elite' with cooked op-eds and headlines favoring right wing framing, and also still having deeply enmeshed, co-dependent, sympathetic access relationships with much of the Trump White House to do stories. This goes triple for people like Maggie Haberman, who has been covering Trump since her days with Page Six in NYC years ago and has had a symbiotic relationship with him when she was just a society journalist. They're too close for comfort.

They want it both ways - they want to be seen as the elite in journalism, want praise for courage from the left, acceptance from the right, and to never have to acknowledge any liberal complaints - but don't want to admit it.

Speaking of tawdry gossip:

"Inscrutable" is not the word I would use to describe a man like Mike Pence.  "Hypocritical"?  Yes.  "Sociopathic"?  Hell yes.  But "inscrutable"...?

Frankly, Mike Pence is not this Sphinx-like figure that certain people keep making him out to be.  He's rather easy to read, if they actually took the time to do so.

And if that doesn't pan out?  Well, that's why God invented girl gangs, dark alleys and blunt, metal objects.

So, now the WH is telling the truth about everything?  LOL!  This really IS "Iyanla Fix My Gov't"!

(...or it's a total setup, and we shouldn't fall for it.)

    • You are getting like me. It's getting to the point that without any Damian sightings...it's been the fashion that is holding my interest. And it should not be that way at all.
    • I don't mind Jan either. If anything, they could be using her more to get her daughter's POV. Not to mention her role as one of the Have-Nots.    I also don't mind the local talent. Just look at soaps that were in NY or the shows that film there, they always go for the local talent and we get to find new faves.
    • I'm not going to watch (because...well...that M-dude...lol) but knowing the history between Henry and Roger, I could see Henry wanting to enable Hart to stay independent of Roger. I could even see it as Henry having the last laugh at Roger. Roger hated "the Henry's" of the world, which basically meant anyone who had money and social prominence. Twice Roger swindled Henry out of a chunk of his fortune, so giving some to Hart, who hates his father, is a form of karma.
    • Ashley and Derek have to go- they really throw off the pace of the show.  Today was the first time I fast-forwarded through their scenes. The writing and acting is just bad for both characters.
    • Jon is stuck in a story that isn't popular but with Cady I feel like the issue is that she was clearly thrown in with no real purpose. I still don't understand why she pops up. I recall early on it being said she owned a spa but we've never seen it. That could've been an interesting location for people to meet. She also could've worked better as Smitty's mom, but instead we get this random agent of Dani's who pops up twice a month? A total waste. I mostly agree. I do feel like Jan could be elevated with a name soap actress, someone like Judi Evans or Kassie DePaiva comes to mind, but they're limited to who is in Atlanta. Keeping that in mind I think the current actress is fine.
    • It's great to see. My thoughts might be a little different, but for the most part, I am excited and interested in most of the storylines. Yeah, you're right. This is probably how she (Dani) normally acts. And, I do not like it!  I agree; this is another distraction while she heals her wounds. If I weren't an Eva fan, she helped me root for her even more. As I said a month ago, I hope they take their time with her modeling agency. I would love to see her face a few obstacles before becoming a huge success.
    • I like that there are a lot of local performers on this soap and I'm glad they've resisted so far on hiring too many soap performers.   Cady has been awkward on the show thus far and Jon seems to have polarizing as well. I say focus on the local talent and giving those people a job and exposure.. and leave the P & G soap opera performers in the past.
    • Who do you think would be good for the show among the ATWT/GL cast?
