February 2, 20196 yr Member In 2016, when Trump was actively seeking the presidency, he applied for a loan and was rejected Deutche Bank. Northam wasn't the only candidate that clearly wasn't properly vetted. The risk Deutsche worried about if Trump defaulted is striking: either forgo collecting on the debt or seize the assets of the US president. It still shocks me MSM hasn't covered Trump's 2nd largest creditor Ladder Capital given how much debt they holdhttps://t.co/mtj3MohaG0 — Wendy Siegelman (@WendySiegelman) February 2, 2019

February 3, 20196 yr Member While I understand the decision to push him out, given what he did and his fumbling response, I am increasingly worried at what will happen the next time the media and the GOP come after a Democrat they hate. When they come for Justin Fairfax, will any of the party fight his corner?

When they come for Justin Fairfax, will any of the party fight his corner? Well, it's not like Fairfax hasn't been left out there alone to fight his own battles before. I suspect, he wouldn't expect much help from anyone based on what he experienced recently. Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax in January on declining to preside over the state Senate's honoring of Robert E. Lee: “It does not move us forward, it does not bring us together. And so I wanted to do my part to make it clear that I don’t condone it.” https://t.co/z29FDOIr6k — Josh Billinson (@jbillinson) February 1, 2019

It's unfortunate the GOP has staged another, successful hit on a Democrat's career. But, like I said before, Northam made the situation worse by backing down from his earlier apology. He should have simply apologized for the photos, emphasized that he was a changed man who disavows all forms of racism, and then left it at that. Edited February 3, 20196 yr by Khan
February 3, 20196 yr Member When you dig up clips from "Gimme a Break!" or any '80s sitcom, you know we have plunged into the depths. Edited February 3, 20196 yr by Khan
February 3, 20196 yr Member Say what you will, but they got it right! I was born in the early '80s, and I was raised to never, ever, ever say the n-word. And despite gangsta rap hitting its peak when I hit junior high/HS, I still never said the word. Kids today shrug it off which I don't get. If I ever have a kid and I hear even a variation of that out of their mouth or on their phone, they're grounded for a month.

February 3, 20196 yr Member Is this really the new standard by defining if someone is a racist. I doubt even if a photo of Trump showed up with him in a white hood would the media train acknowledge it. Now the barometer by the likes of Chuckles Todd is "do you know what's in their heart" as to why someone should not be called a racist. I am glad Sherrod Brown put him in his place. And by the way Brown so far is the only white male politician on the stump so to speak that has managed to address these idiocies in the media I have heard time and time again without anger, but just in a matter of fact "factual" way. In the process he makes these people look more and more like the fools they are. https://twitter.com/MeetThePress/status/1092067775802236928 Edited February 3, 20196 yr by JaneAusten
February 3, 20196 yr Member Chuck Todd has such an awful voice for television. So whiny and weaseling. This man is a failure in every way. Only in our craven media market and on the especially craven NBC would he have a career. Sadly it seems like Bernie's sycophants already have the pitchforks out for Sherrod Brown because he doesn't want to give out rainbows and fairy promises about Medicare.
