I appreciate you sharing this and indeed, it's a well researched article I wish more people would read. I think many of us realize the changes in China over the past few years but I have to admit it really didn't resonate clearly to me as to why until I read this.  The most disturbing part is exactly what I fear with the new President. You can't bluster in and renegotiate trade deals or cut off trade and hurt our relationship with them to the extent he viably can otherwise the entire world economy will collapse. And this idea we can simply dictate trade policy to them is nonsense. Our business interests are so intertwined that you can't simply cancel everything. The average American won't understand most of this and that's the pity because again it's those people who would hurt the most.

Looks like Ryan has been teaching Trump about the Constitution:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/paul-ryan-donald-trump-constitution_us_58416be3e4b017f37fe40cad

Seriously? Talk about a sad day in American history when the Commander-in-Chief (to be) has to be taught about something he should know.

This man is the gift that keeps on giving.

I knew it would be the first one - his ego needs to be soothed at all costs.

With that said, I do think the games that we play with these countries are increasingly transparent as so much is boiling over in Asia. I think he's just making public something that is coming anyway.

...Aaaannnd as expected, China has launched a complaint. (Oh well, as long as that Trump branded hotel in Taiwan is still on schedule, right?)

Could India next in line after Trump's call to the Pakistani PM?

Interesting. But honestly I have a friend who returned after spending the last 18 years in Italy and Belusconi and his tenure as PM had a lot more similarities to trump with his business background and the -ability to be the Italian version of Teflon Don.  He still has a presence in politics although much less due to his tax evasion conviction and  the child pornography associations. He also controls a good amount still of the media there which explains the untruths allowed to propagate as fact.

Matteo Renzi the Italian PM who was recently feted at a State Dinner has resigned.

The PM of New Zealand has also resigned today.

People are now speculating on who else will resign before January 20th, 2017.  I don't think either has to do with who'll be entering the White House next month (both, I believe had referendums whose outcomes disappointed the PMs) but the coincidence is getting a few chuckles.

Park Geun-hye of South Korea, could be next, if she hasn't already tendered her resignation, IMO.

One bit of positive news in the U.S.

The Standing Rock protesters celebrate that the Army Corps of Engineers (on word from POTUS) has decided not to grant easement for the pipeline construction.

I sincerely hope this lasts.

No change needed: By selecting Nancy Pelosi, House Democrats think the party is just fine

http://www.salon.com/2016/11/30/pelosi-breezes-to-victory-again-but-dont-expect-house-democrats-to-start-singing-kumbaya/

Pelosi’s 134-63 victory means that — assuming she serves out her two-year term, through the 2018 midterms — she will have been the top House Democrat for 15 years, longer than chamber legends like Tip O’Neill (10) and Bob Michel (14).

Pelosi’s second-in-command and fellow septuagenarian, Minority Whip Steny Hoyer of Maryland, has held the top deputy position since 2003. They’ll be in good company, as next year’s Democratic House leadership has an average age of 72.

    • Another lot of skipped episodes to look forward to when the time comes on Videoland. So annoying. They have skipped so many, especially in  season 15 where they skipped 19 episodes throughout the season. Is it just me or is the vault down? It's like a different error message this time so it's hard to know if it's me this time.
    • thank you for uploading the rest of season 12!!! I hope i can get them soon the links down! Thank you again for posting the B&B classic episodes to revisit!!!!
    • Hmm, okay.  BTW, my only problem with Kai & the surgery story is where is this guy's family? And, another BTW, I think I may have inadvertently added to that rumor from last year about a male descendant of Justus Ward. You see, that is an idea I could really get behind! Like I would pay to see those scenes. And, true, I did hear it ... [sheepish grin]

Yes they can. While rare, its not like soaps in the past havent said F that and used flashbacks of a scene even when a recast has been done. OLTL used to do that
    • Well, I am glad to know that & for it to make sense, so thanks for the info &  the perspective, also. At the end of AMC 1.0, I thought the new young talent was really quite good, but I missed Eden & NuBianca just ... well, I wasn't 100% sold on her & Bianca was so important to me. But then, Tad & Dixie were also important & yep, there's another problem, for me I mean. I'm not your typical AMC fan but I hung in there anyway. I know what you mean because it wasn't as good as it once had been but it was still Agnes's show in Pine Valley. Some of that is a bittersweet nostalgic clinging to the past, I guess. By that time I'd been through so many show cancellations. AW, Santa Barbara, PC, The City, GL, ATWT.

Betsy Snyder, when she was at DAYS was part of the WGA winning writing team before she died, tragically far too young.
    • Yep Edmund and Tad went under cover to infiltrate the... Willow Lake (I think?) old folks community scandal that was exploiting Phoebe, etc.  (Which at one point led to Edmund rescuing Brooke from quicksand--common around Pine Valley I guess

) EDIT maybe I'm wrong.  I found the quicksand scene

But for the story all I can find is Edmund going undercover as the gigolo "preying" on older women, Eduardo (no one would recognize him with that disguise and name ) so the drag must have been.. a different story?
    • But then he HATES the original Heather Webber (Cher's half sister played her, right?) and we know what happened when Robin would step into the role a year after this.  He does seem pretty spot on about actors who show promise otherwise.  It's interesting he knocks OLTL early on (though I loved all the recently released episodes from this era we got) but does give a lot of credit to the actress playing Cathy despite earlier complaining about her story.  And over all, while quite negative, his various pros and cons on the shows sounds about right with what I know of the shows at this time. This was a July dated issue of the magazine but and I know they date mags a month or two in advance--obviously when he wrote this he didn't know Lovers and Friends was gonna go off the air (in May I think).
    • You know one of the soap outlets posed that question just last week: Who do you want Trina with Spencer or Kai? And, of course, the picture of Spencer was NAC. I said, well, a lot. I chose Kai. I said that Spencer had been an entitled brat & that some people valued him over her, when I valued her above all others. I guess we'll see.
    • You're right. The only thing I can think of is if GH finally decides to bring back Spencer.
