I don't watch cable news but I saw some talking about how they were laughing it up on MSNBC. It's sickening to me that these people are still treating this as a game. They will continue to do so until he comes for them. They hate America and they hate us.

I don't think the person on PBS thought it was funny though. They all look a little sick to their stomachs over there. It's just that they actually talk about policy unlike CNN. And yes, Trump has flat out said he is coming for the press, which is one of the reasons I consider him a demagogue.

I still have some respect for PBS (I have none for NPR or for cable or network news - well, CBS is OK, I guess), so I'm glad they haven't let me down. But so much of the media is just full of deluded, dangerous sycophants. They created Trump and he will make them pay.

I read a statistic that said 66% of White women voted for Trump?!

Nobody better blame minorities for this mess. Even with voter suppression, many of us waited on extra long lines, sued to get our registrations restored and voted even in the face of intimidation.

If HRC loses, we know where the blame can go.

Chinese state media is saying this is what happens when you have a democracy, which is why they don't believe in it.

Yes, and however this turns out, all of my respect for that.

Can it really be true that many white women voted for Trump? I also don't complete understand how the white working class had enough people to pull this off.  I guess once it's all over we'll get a better breakdown as to how this happened, but I feel like there were hidden Trump voters among the educated.

POC had the ugliest hurdles of this election season - of so many election seasons - and yet always turned out. It's likely that some will blame them, but those people are idiots. I still remember the people who tried to blame gays for Kerry losing in 2004. To some Democrats, it's always about finding someone to blame. Those people can kiss my ass. The truth is that time and time again hate and fear is underestimated, and voter suppression efforts help cement the people who flock to the polls every 2 years lashing out in terror. Trump was an unknown. Trump was an outsider. Trump said things you aren't supposed to say. I think that many Democrats on high assumed that the average voter would be repulsed. And many were. But many are enthralled by this. Many others just got numb. I saw an ad last week, an anti-Trump ad, that was just clip after clip of him saying awful things. It was so much, so fast, that I quickly zoned out. If I, who am terrified and horrified by him, had that reaction, I can't imagine what others who weren't as committed would do.

People underestimated Trump from day 1. Those who knew better turned out in record numbers. Those who didn't have damned us all.

    • Did I ever say that? I actually don't want to, but I have no problem doing so when I feel it's truly warranted. Case in point. I'll be more respectful about how you're involving yourself in these kind of discussions when you consider doing the same. Believe me when I tell you the way you attempt to dress up this attitude has placated no one, and this is not a minority forum opinion. It is easy enough, for example, to simply say that "I think many of us have underrated JFP's skills as a woman producer in an overly misogynistic industry". It's a lot easier than spending paragraph after paragraph amusedly shaking one's head while talking down to the clueless proles of SON about their blinkered, reductive opinions. And yes, I am saying that many of us have spoken up crediting Phelps for the skills she obviously has as a technical whiz and line producer. There's nothing out of turn about acknowledging that many posters know where she excelled. Or talking about where she clearly (for many of us) didn't. You don't have to agree, but you could try listening to someone other than yourself.
    • It’s a recurring tension in Daytime: the willingness to take risks can fuel a show's longevity, but the actresses themselves often bear the long-term consequences of audience backlash.
    • I pray Eva never lets Dana back into her life, because she deserves better. Dana isn't a mother, nor is she a parent.
    • Daphnee's performance very much reminded me of Anna Holbrook's on Another World when Sharlene was dealing with John and Felicia's affair. Angry but well controlled and believable. A good start for an Emmy reel. If there is one thing an evil Black mother is going to do, it is lock you out the house. Eva shouldn't have even bothered to go home.  Leslie calling Martin "Mr. President" was interesting. How much exactly does she know about the family and has someone higher up sent her to cause trouble? Anita's speech to Leslie was dignified like Geraldine Whitney (EON) or Kim Hughes (ATWT) would have gone off on somebody.
    • Thanks for posting this, fascinating read. It's clear how ambivalent Wyndham is about Justine. IMO, it reads like she agrees that the end of the storyline was bad, but reading between the lines I think she thought she was doing good work for the meat of it....which was not the case. As bad as the writing for most of that story was, it was truly made worse by her embarrassing performance. After the story concluded she kept falling back into Justine ticks, when she wasn't phoning he scenes in. Not to play Freud, but was it to tr*ll her critics?
    • I better hear "The Emmy goes to Ambyr Michelle" come Emmy time lol
