@DRW50, Christie is hyped in much the same manor that Giuliani is hyped, except Giuliani seems to be a far fouler human being.

Giuliani did one good thing in his career which was to marginalize the mob which led to them being diminished in stature. He parlayed that into mayor of NYC which he was mostly mediocre at and did much to inflame police brutality, deaths in police custody and racial violence while simultaneously relegating the working class and poor to guests in their own city while Disney-fying the Big Apple.  What no one talks about is that even the White working class who were some of Giuliani's biggest supporters had had their fill of him when September 11, 2001 happened and Giuliani became the self appointed "America's Mayor", parading around lower Manhattan and 'Ground Zero' without protective gear, setting a poor example for emergency workers and volunteers who were doing 9, 10 hour shifts in an area still enveloped in smoke and toxins without protective gear.  Giuliani lying to the public and telling them lower Manhattan was "Open for Business" when the acrid smell of burning flesh, twisted metal and smoke could be smelled in Brooklyn and as far as Washington Heights. He didn't even have the class to step aside when Bloomberg was elected mayor after a postponed election could finally take place, instead placing himself on a guest spot on Saturday Night Live, yukking it up and trying to further burnish his career prospects. He's been living off of 9/11 ever since.

Honestly, as much disregard and lack of respect as I have for Christie, I have nothing but contempt for Rudolph W. Giuliani.

Is Trump pivoting for real?

He expresses regret...

Then, he (errr, his speech writers) seem to borrow Hillary's stronger together theme:  "We are one nation. When one state hurts, we all hurt and we must all work together to lift each other up.

He's tried it before and it hasn't worked. The press will once again, just like the last 'pivot', breathlessly declare this 'the moment' and go all in for a horse race narrative the race has been sadly lacking for the past few months, but Trump will blow again. He can't not. He hates being on-message, he hates apologizing, he hates not just Being Himself. As Josh Marshall from TPM says, this is who he is.

I give it five days, tops. The media will try very hard to keep it going though. They need the numbers of a closer race.

Not even five days. He'll crack by his next rally. He can't control himself when he's in front of his fans. They demand the bomb thrower, the insults, the attacking of the press and dammit, he's going to give it to them. Not only will he give it to them, he'll double down.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.

I'm sorry but I'm a glutton for punishment. Would love to see this woman OWNING the canvas. Telling off Leslie who tells her she's the head b!tch.
    • And in case anyone is confused; Rusty was hired by HB to work undercover and infiltrate some gang sabotaging Lewis.

    • The Dallas finale was the highest-rated episode since October 9, 1987 (Gone with the Wind). Prior to the finale, the last Dallas episode to finish ahead of a new episode of Murder, She Wrote was October 23, 1987 (Tough Love). Prior to the finale, the last Dallas episode to finish ahead of a new episode of The Cosby Show was February 22, 1985 (Shattered Dreams).
