Could it be possible that Mac is coming back too and they didn't name her? I mean, I like Mac and AshBash and all, but she is NOT in the same league as Tricia Cast, Marla Adams, and Beth Maitland...

I'm afraid it will be. Y&R's canvas is over-stuffed right now. Unless they ditch characters, I don't see any room on the canvas for new folks. Olivia's back, Ashley's back...and so forth.

I feel this is a November Sweeps stunt.

That said, because Nina COULD have oodles of story, and Phillip IV WOULD be an interesting complication, I wouldn't doubt that this might lay the foundation for a future longer-term return (e.g., several month guest stint or something).

If Nina comes back, and Cricket doesn't, I'll be appalled. Those two are joined at the hip in my mind.

She's someone I wish could stick around too...but I doubt she will.

My guess is that they can't bring back AshBash for two reasons. First, there is probably bad blood (fired her!). Second, she's probably a bit younger than Billy Miller, right? And they wouldn't want to highlight that. Third, it makes sense that they would bring back Mac full time one of these days...and I doubt they plan to bring back AshBash. So...they are probably not going to want us to be reminded of her.

Translation: I'll bet she is building houses in Darfur or something (Brock's daughter!) and cannot be reached.

I didn't see "Liz" in the Fairman article. I'll have to read more closely.

The problem is that Bill Bell really totally shifted the canvas around the time Y&R went to an hour. Brooks/Fosters were gone, Abbotts/Williams replaced them. The Brooks have few remaining relevant ties on this canvas. Stuart was never close to Katherine. They brought the Brooks' sisters back for Victor/Nikki's first wedding, and then Jack Smith brought Lorie back during that season where Victor was revisiting all of his past loves....but it would be hard to justify.

The only way it would make sense to me is if it were revealed that Stuart never left GC, and he is still owner of the Chronicle. Then it would make sense that he would pay respects to GC's leading citizen...and bump into Liz there. I would enjoy that.

The same problem with Mamie...Mamie never had much of a tie to Kay. If she couldn't come back for Dru's funeral, she surely won't come back for Kay's.

I know my memory gets fuzzy from time to time but I thought that Stuart and Liz were still married. I don't remember them getting divorced.

I may be dreaming something but I just seem to remember them being in scenes together. I know that they had some after Stuart & Liz married.

Me too! She was SO much better than AshBash.

This is excellent news...a great list of former characters! I always loved Beau Kayser as Brock and Nina coming back is just icing on the cake for me. I am so pleased with what Maria Bell is doing with the show (minus the Baldwin/Fisher clan).

It's great to see these characters and performers returning.

Even if it's short term I hope they are used well.

In the case of Dina,she should have been a part of so many stories over the years.I think a lot more characters need to come back for short stints and play a particular story,rather than vanish forever and never be referenced.

Nina-I loved Tricia Cast but by the time the Tomas story came around the character had been diluted and played out.The whole Phillip thing needs to be addressed,but what could Nina do next?

I think Beau Kayzer is only returning as a favor to the Bells.Last time he came back fot the intro of Mac,he was lured by Bill Bell and said he was quite happy on his horse farm and didn't want a major workload.

I think it's kinda scary to have a fake funeral for someone...up there in age. What happens if God forbid Jeanne Cooper does die? "Oh Katherine's dead dead this time, we swear!".

Stuart and Liz had separated around 1982; I don't remember the reasons behind the separation, but Liz wound up going to London to live with Snapper and Chris (Snapper had accepted a teaching fellowship there) sometime after Jill married John Abbott. Stuart remained in Genoa City and was last seen in 1983; the last time I remember him being around was when he sold Jonas's, which had been entrusted to Leslie Brooks, to Gina Roma. Since Leslie was touring as a concert pianist, she had asked her dad to watch over Jonas's, and Gina, thanks to bankrolling from Jack Abbott, was able to buy the place. She renamed it to Gina's and it was around until Kevin burned it to the ground about 4-5 years ago.
