Thanks @vetsoapfan (and @Tisy-Lish in the other thread). I appreciate such detailed responses into a world I'm never going to get to see. I wish I could see some of Prager as Laurie Ann. She is a big "what if" as she was a cast member on SNL that is never actually ever on air during the episode she was there, and her sketches in dress rehearsal were cut and all she did that made it onto the air was a short film which aired a season later...where she stands there while Tom Davis pushes a button.

I remember someone here saying a long time ago that Linda Cook's favorite soap role was Egypt. From the little I've seen of her as Laurie, I can understand why, although I did think she was touching in the brief appearances where Laurie Ann returned in the final episodes.

I'm still surprised they remembered her, even if Timmy was still forgotten. That one is left for the EON fics, I suppose.

I've never seen Emily Prager act in anything other than TEON, but I would have liked to see what she could have brought to SNL. Her success mainly comes from writing. She is 77 years old this year. Yikes! I feel so old!

I also found Linda Cook touching her scenes at the tail end of TEON's run. Her somber approach to the role felt more appropriate at the time, since the show's termination cast a dark pall over everything. Reuniting Laurie Ann with her parents was the only thing mediocre writer Lee Sheldon ever did that made TEON feel like its old, true self, if only briefly.

I loved the scenes with Nancy and Laurie reminiscing about her childhood friend Sarah Louise Capice and her step-grandfather Winston Grimsley, both long-unmentioned characters in Monticello. It would have been amazing for Doug McKeon to make a surprise cameo as Timmy one final time, so viewers could rest assured that his character had not died in the attic and decayed into a skeleton like Bobby Martin did in Pine Valley.🫢

It would have been a nice gift to the fans, too, if beloved vets like Bill and Martha Marceau had popped in for a visit. But none of the long-running P&G went out with style and grace, alas.

Are these scenes on Youtube?  Or posted anyplace else.   I'd enjoy watching them.

From watching the 1984 episodes, it seemed as though once the show came back from the two week hiatus (during the Olympics), it seemed as though the show went back to the basics with two pretty good mystery/plotlines:

The Locked Room murder mystery and the mysterious backstory of newbie Liz, who was putting constructing a skull she had discovered.

Only one of the two mysteries were concluded before the end of the show, but the Liz story did result in the return of Laurie Ann.. and her determination to find her child as the show concluded.

Hi there, how are you doin g?

I originally saw the episode with those scenes live, back in the day. I know that the ep was floating around in fan circles, because my friend Mark had it on video and sent it to me. Sadly, after 40 years and two moves, I have no idea what became of that tape. For my own satisfaction, I want to find it and watch those scenes again, so if it has survived and I can locate it, I will tell you ASAP.

I've never come across it on Youtube, but there are scores of 1984 episodes of TEON on that site, so with enough digging, we might be able to uncover it there. (I looked last night, but to no avail.)

I remember seeing some of Laurie's return on Youtube. They aren't on now, but that EON channel has been steadily uploading 1984 so it shouldn't be too much longer.

I was wondering, those of you who watched EON before the period that is more widely available (mostly 1979 on, with some pit stops starting from 1975), what made the years before that time interesting or special for you? Are there any characters or storylines you feel deserve more attention and you want to document for future generations?

Not to be picky, but it's my understanding that Keith Whitney did not meet his demise in a lighthouse, but rather in a tower on the Whitney summer estate. Historian William J. Reynolds, who used to post here and other soap boards, shared his recollections of the storyline and even had the chance to tour Lords Valley Country Club, where the scenes were filmed. See William's post from July 24, 2012, on the following page for his memories of the storyline. He posted this a few days after visiting Lords Valley Country Club:

I know the scenes with Mike, Nancy, and Laurie reminiscing were once available online, but I had no luck finding them. I recall Sharon Gabet posting episodes on her Facebook, including the final week. I believe the scenes with the Karrs aired on Christmas in 1984.

I thought it was a small lighthouse which the Whitney family owned, but if Reynolds confirmed it was only a tower, I won't argue the point. I saw it in a few episodes, 55 years ago, and minute details tend to get cloudy. I appreciate the clarification and the link you provided.

The synopsis of the Jonah Lockwood storyline was great.🙂

I was mostly thinking of something that was special to you and you don't think really gets attention now. I know there's probably plenty along those lines, I just mean a story, or a moment, or a relationship.

I learned so much about EON through the parts of Mark's page that focused on things like the show's bad girls.

I would love to see the Lockwood story, or the famous two-hander with Adam and Nicole(?) when she was in jail. I think I'm remembering that right. Or Millette Alexander's two(?) characters. Really any more of Adam and Nicole in their prime. Or the period where they moved Maeve McGuire's Nicole to Miles. I am curious to see them together.

The Stephanie Martin arc always interested in me and it sounded like it was one of the first times Nicole was in peril.   I wish I could see that arc in full.

I can't think of a Slesar-penned story on EON that I wouldn't love to see or see more of.  What I've seen remains so remarkable to me.  Slesar worked very carefully to make EON distinct from other soaps - not just in terms of content, but also in terms of style.  His EON was so pulpy, yet so psychologically acute.  I think the only material that comes closest in matching that was the stuff Bill Bell and Kay Alden penned for Y&R in the '90's and early '00's.

Ahhh, there are so many moments, so many relationships, so many stories that stood out on TEON.

Let me put my thinking cap on for a bit!
